Transfer Portal Starting to Load

Supposedly close to getting Jackson. So it makes sense in some ways. That would have been a crowded 2/3 with Jackson/Sanon/Wilcher and Sellers, and honestly I'm not sure Wilcher isn't the fourth of those four. They must be after a PG or two also.

Wilcher out has been the rumor for awhile with all the transfers coming in

Miami vs dook. Two southern private schools filled with rich northeast kids who couldn't get in to better schools.

You gotta think anyone kid with a choice between those two picks Miami. Sure, dook is more highly rated but the U is still a damn good degree.
Academics, unfortunately, is not a consideration at play in 99:9% of the choices being made here.

I think Sanon is clear 1 of those guys (I seem to be a bit higher than most on him) and then would probably put Jackson second and Wilcher third.... I would think he is still in line for like 17 minutes a game with 3 guard lineups but he probably still has NBA dreams

I wouldn't mind picking this guy up for more athleticism. We could just play a 4 guard lineup with a Center. I know we need someone stronger but he is a great athlete.

I can’t see it at this point. Good player though. He must be after a huge bag bc he is basically in line to start at UF no? I know they got Lee and two freshmen but they lose the three guards ahead of him.

Most likely some team is willing to pay more than Florida is willing to pay for the role Florida anticipates him having next season.
Role players on championship teams can almost always get another team or franchise to pay more for them than sticking with their current team. Happens in every sport.

The plot seems quite obvious with Aberdeen. They’re recruiting over him and he doesn’t want to come off the bench again. Florida is in prime position to land PJ Haggerty.

i kind of wish pro sports would follow this model. Everyone a free agent every year. No long term contracts. The chaos would be entertaining

Insane to see the situations some of these schools are in, and insane to see players like CBM, Wilcher, and Aberdeen in the portal. It’s truly madness.

Thank god for Dan Hurley. We’re better situated than about 99.7 of the country for next season (make that 100% if Karaban comes back). Not trying to jinx anything since I know nothing is official until our roster is on campus in the summer (and maybe not even then), but to this point he’s done phenomenally operating in this impossible environment.

I hate Duke basketball as much as the next guy but I would not compare the academics of those 2 schools. Duke is an elite academic university up there with Ivies. Miami is a very good school but the selectivity of admissions is very low because of its location and appeal to Northeastern kids. Other than that its academics are nothing like the top tier schools. I've discussed this with people who have gone there recently. It's a very good school but nothing close to elite. Not that U.S. News and World Report university rankings are the be all end all, but they have Miami rated #63 behind schools you would not associate with elite academics. Duke is #6, ahead of most of the Ivies.

Academically the two are not even close. Miami is a fine school, but your impression of Duke is dated. It is a significantly better school than Miami. The institution and the students that attend. Miami has a low acceptance rate, but not particularly impressive credentials for the students. Duke really is harder to get into than the lower Ivies.

BUT, if you were referring to a basketball player hoping to go pro? I completely agree with you that Miami is the call (and you still get a good degree if you go that far).
I wish I saw your post before I posted mine. Same thoughts.

Yeah but tuition room and board will only cost you $98,000 at Miami. It's a steal of a deal.
