Thanks @temery ...this was necessary. Really hasn't been any "official" information out there lately as to who we are interested in. Diarra seems to be the only guy that there's any sort of smoke around whatsoever. Still think we need to bring in two more bodies...whether it's a Castle re-class and a transfer, or two transfers. Don't want to go into the season with any less than 11 scholarship players.

UC Santa Barbara add an impressive transfer last night, adding Cal's starting center Andre Kelly.

The grad transfer averaged 13.4p, 8.4r, 60.7 fg% in 30.2 mpg last year.

Since he's joined the school, coach Joe Pasternack has turned the UC Santa Barbara program around with each of his seasons ranking a KP of 172 or better with an average of a 117 over the last three seasons.

In addition to Kelly, Pasternack has helped add former top-100 prospects Miles Norris (Oregon) and Zach Harvey (Cincy) in addition to strong HS prospects (Ajay Mitchell last year and three-star Koat Keat this upcoming season).

They're one of the better teams in California and the Big West streams all of their games for free, so they're a recommended watch this upcoming season.

Ohio State has done very nicely in the portal this offseason:

• Tanner Holden 6’6 185 SR from Wright State. 20.1p, 7.1r, 2.6a, 49.7 fg%.
• Isaac Likekele 6’5 215 GR from Oklahoma State, 7.1p, 5.5r, 3.4a, 1.2s, 43.7 fg% in 30.9 mpg
• Sean McNeil 6’3 205 GR from West Virginia, 12.2p, 36.8 3p% in 33.6 mpg

All three will likely be starters in 21-22.

Deadline to declare your intention was May 1st but compliance departments had 48 hours after to officially enter the name in the portal. So not sure if he just missed the deadline, or nobody really cared about Illinois State basketball so the news just trickled out slower

Regularly interests me in something that hasn't absorbed me in a long time.

In a weird way, his posts remind me of the joy I would get from encountering successive waves of Deadheads who liked the band in the same way I had when I was younger. It's hopeful & reinvigorating to witness such enthusiasm, as to well as have the opportunity to take some of it as a useful resource for when I have time & curiosity.

My short answer is, no. I don’t have interest in an video/audio stuff at the moment, but a blog could be a fun hobby.

I also like the kinda impermanence of posting here: it’s a community of knowledgeable and passionate college basketball fans. When I post, it’s a time to slow down, be mindful and share something I’m excited about.

247's comparison for Stephon Castle is Likekele. Always thought that was interesting as Likekele is such a bruiser but I can see it from the perspective of size and ball handling.

I get that, and everyone has a life, job and all that. But I still recall Dan Orlovsky, after being cut from the Lions the final time. He went on Twitter and posted breakdowns of plays, especially QB play with his analysis. He was just obviously really good at it and his following grew from the handful of UConn or Lions fans that followed him like me. Wasn't long before ESPN came calling for him. He's tall and relatively handsome so, yeah, that helps.

So if it appeals, more may be possible than I think most people realize.

I think what’s fun is that you give tons of exposure and share tons of knowledge about mid majors / lesser known programs and players.

I’m thinking of some title ideas but I feel having the blog focused on the non-power conferences, teams and players could be really unique (maybe others exist, but idk)

If anyone watched any MSU games last season you saw how competitive they were and well coached.
McMahon is bringing his big three with him which should be interesting. The big guy Williams should be able to play with the other SEC bigs and he has a motor. The two guards were very good at MSU, I'm sure they will find the speed and size of the SEC guards a bit harder to match.
Always liked LSU since Pistol Pete but it has really fallen prey to coaches with less than stellar backgrounds, I feel Coach McMahon will do it right.
