I know there is no such award but if there were — for someone’s FIRST year at their new school — here are some nominees:

Van Lith (LSU -> TCU)
Cooper (SC -> Tenn)
Amoore (VT -> Ky)
Iriafen (Stan -> USC)
Beers (OreSt -> Okla)

Looking at Cremes rankings, had forgotten about LegerWalker who is out for the season as of early Dec — big loss for UCLA .

1. A player out for the year should never be considered as they had zero impact so that comment about Leger-Walker is complete irrelevant
2. Laitu King from ND was pretty good for them and is top 3 on this list despite the melt down at the end of the season.
3. Sadly, Hailey Van Lith probably is #1 even though that whole team is transfers
4. Amoore is probably #2 as KY was horrible last year and lost many players out. I mean it helps bringing in Strack as well but Amoore has played very well

There were multiple times throughout last season that she got benched IN GAME
I was not intentionally being condescending, just ironic.:rolleyes:

We could write a book on Hailey Van Lith at LSU, and how the fit didn't work. The short story was that Hailey Van Lith, Flaujae and freshmen Williams all needed the ball. While they were stepping on each others feet, Morrow and Reese also played the same position, with the same style, and also got in each others way down low. This year with only 3 stars and 2 role player platoons, the spacing is actually much better for LSU.

Poa for Hailey Van Lith. Basically for defense. Still if Hailey Van Lith plays 30 minutes and Poa 10, and Hailey Van Lith closes out the game in the 4th, due her good free throw shooting, and then starts again the next game, I'm not sure that's being benched. Paige B plays 29 minutes per game this season, but I wouldn't describe her off court time as being benched.

More irony was of course knowing that Hailey Van Lith was a weak defender, she was still given the Clark defensive assignment (Hailey Van Lith 30 min/Poa 15 min) in the Elite 8 game vs Iowa.:confused: Tough for Hailey Van Lith on national TV.

Also surprising, with all the chatter last season about the bad Hailey Van Lith fit, Hailey, FJ and Angel are all still quite friendly.:)

I even thought, Hailey Van Lith might have remained at LSU for a 2nd year, toughing it out and finding a solution. That didn't happen, but it was nice to see her have a solid season at TCU.

At TCU the roster is thinner, but roles are clear. Hailey Van Lith has the ball, Prince is in the post, and Connor is the spot up shooter. Worked out pretty well.

It's a little more complicated than that. Connor racked up 128 assists to Van Lith's 181 and Hunter chipped in 91. I would say there were a number of versatile players who contributed in various ways. TCU was thin in the front court but has a ton of guards/wings. In addition to those 3 you have Emma-Nnopu, Bigby and Roberson all getting some decent minutes. They were maybe fortunate Scherr was out with an injury all year or they would've had a heck of a time trying to get everybody on the court.

Geez louise. AS I SAID, while I was looking at Creme's list, I noticed Leger-Walker's name, whom I had forgotten, and realized it was a big loss for UCLA. I did not say she was a top transfer this year.

I did not research the candidates. But I do think that
Lucy Olsen, a transfer from Villanova to Iowa, would
be a reasonable candidate. Olsen was their PG and
"go to" person for points and assists. She is also one
tough cookie with a great smile.

If I had listed 10 players would've included her. Don't think she's had as big an impact as the others in my top 5.

Cooper sat out a year after transferring if that mattters. Not sure how she wins considering the Vols went backwards anyway. No shade intended. She was a big help to UT.

I believe the winner is Amoore, but I'd entertain Iriafen and Van Lith.

Geez Louise part 2.
Excuuuuse me for not saying “first PLAYING” year. I assumed this was clear since academic sophomores can win frosh of the year if they missed their first year bc of injury.
