Tourney - Round 3

Kaityn Gilbert yesterday for the real fashionist coach - 3-4 for 7 points in key first half duty in the victory over the Pack

Maddie Connor - 23 in the first round and 9 in the second and so far in the 3rd game 11.

Vonleh 16 against old Miss
Your friend Gilbert also had a defensive play...yes a defensive play, that changed momentum in Q4, a sky high block on a layup that only happened as State player changed hands to finish.

Among many role players, Gilbert was the unsung hero. Her 7 points when LSU was cold, and defensive effort.

FJ had a bad game. She was focus of the D, and still may not be 100% right.

Williams plays a lot of positions, and also was important on D. Tough start offensively, but she was money in last 4 min, with ball in her hands as closer.

KG obviously used to being unsung from her time in the dirty t. Given the lackluster kitty performance over the last 3 years a tiny but steady decline each year I would guess the fashionista coach might be reflecting on how she handled the myriad of players leaving the program.

As a Sun Devil fan I do take delight in the down bear down flow of talent from McKale as the trickle away from the Barn'es "system" seems to be escalating into a steady stream.

Barnes does have the last laugh I guess 1.2 million of those laughs

True. Still the best post-legend performance.
But depends on how delusional the AD and fans are.

Nebraska football fired Frank Zolich and Bo Pelini because their teams only won 9/10 games a year, and the fan base demanded 11+ wins. (In the decade since, they’ve had 2 winning seasons.)
Solich.... And you're absolutely correct. Those idiotic firings particularly Frank Solich drove the Huskers into the desert the valley of Doom from which they will never return.

Husker fans are wonderfully supportive of their team but entirely and completely delusional in terms of expectations. They will never ever be in a position to compete in the Big 10 and constantly have a frame of reference from back in the 90s.

Maybe Tennessee will pull this out? It seems a year too early for them to be punching a ticket to the elite eight though.

Enjoyed Tenn v TX. Tenn had every opportunity to win that game, but just was abysmal from 3 (5 of 26) especially in Q4.

Texas won Q4 17-9 to win by 8.

The style is indeed awkward, but it does let them hang around and have a chance in most games, even against best teams.

If you told me a year ago when Kim was hired TN would make the sweet16, I would be shocked and think many would say this team succeeded. Kim appears to be a winner, recruiting well in portal and HS. Lots of room for growth for players and coaches next year. Plus add a good post or two from the portal and things look very bright in Knoxville next season.

They’ll be in the top 3 with SC and TX next year

I missed out on all the fun this morning. Congrats to TCU. Van Lith is having just about the best "returned for a 5th year with lots of question marks surrounding her game" season that I can think of. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she's gone Elite 8 all 5 years of her career. That's a feat that might not be matched.

I know Cori Close gets some raised eyebrows for not being able to get past the Sweet 16 (although now she's done it twice). I don't know if she ever had a team stacked like Notre Dame was this year. It's entirely fair to be questioning why Ivey can't get deeper into the Tourney thus far.

Providing some bulletin board material I see. Blaming the refs, trying to claim LSU/A&M is a rivalry (in 3 games vs LSU, A&M lost by 23, 17 and 6 while Janiah was there), and then saying she doesn’t like LSU lol. Also being oblivious to UCLA losing to LSU to the Sweet 16 last year as a motivating factor for all of her teammates.

Questioning versus thinking she should be on the hot seat next season are two different things. That's how I've interpreted some comments.

The UCLA players have not been this chirpy--not even in the build-up to the Southern Cal games. I know that last year's game didn't go their way (they gave the game away, IMO), but this goes beyond chomping at the bit for a rematch. What's tea?

I remember saying before the season started. That Tennessee would make a sweet 16. Though the season ended today. I think it was a successful one. What this team did was quite a accomplishment. With all the off season changes. I think with the new players coming in. Next season the press will be more effective. I will next season should be a exciting year.

Booker is pro ready and has looked really sharp in the first quarter against the vols.

Wearing 35 like KD her game is really strong
She's easily the most underrated player in the college game. The effortless way she does almost everything reminds me a lot of Maya Moore.

Yeah I wasn't saying fire her. Maybe do a little soul searching though. Tweak the assistant coaching staff?

Tennessee was up and down to the end the regular season. Losing at home to lowly Georgia and getting blown out at Kentucky. But, at the sub-regional in Columbus, they played at a high level and shot the ball well. I was hoping that one weekend later they'd be on the "down" side of their play against Texas in Birmingham.

Frosh Howell and smith having big games for USC
W/ JuJu out and Iriafen having a poor game, you'd think that would be the kiss of death for USC.
