DJ Hogg's niche in the NBA as a 3 pt specialist pretty much went up in smoke this season. He appears slow and a tad out of shape from all the weed.

Providence/Texas A&M is in a toss up game.

I like Painter as a coach, and like the way Purdue plays, but it is still Keady 2.0, with the second tier athletes playing very disciplined on both ends and making fewer mistakes than their opponents. That didn't translate well into tournament success for Keady.

Painter has been a better tournament coach than Keady so far, but he needs to make a Final Four. This is as good a chance as he will have had since he got to Purdue.

It should be Purdue vs Nova but who knows. Tech & Florida are dangerous.

If Kyle Anderson can carve out a niche in the NBA I'm willing to give a guy like Hogg a shot. It seems ridiculous that these guys can make it at that level.

Watching the games these past two days makes me long for a UConn presence in the tournament. It should also make clear why Ollie was let go. These teams have better players, play harder, and are better coached. There weren’t a lot of great games this year but the tournament bring out the best in CBB.

It's sad seeing all these northeast guys in the NCAA tournament not on UConn.
Why did we never offer Alpha Diallo?

UConn wasn't even on the same planet as Providence at Mohegan in November.
PC are a 10 seed. We aren't even in the tunnel that has the light at the end of it.

I have Purdue vs UNC in the finals. Purdue looks great now... they have taken over in the second half. Didn’t realize they hadn’t played since March 4th.
I would LOVE Painter at UConn. He would be amazing. Think he’s really one of the best younger coaches in basketball.

One glaring observation is that on offense after the ball clears halfcourt it's being passed around probing and attacking.

Compare that to our offense where one player controls the ball dribbling for 15 secs then passing around the perimeter or hoisting an ill advised 3 pointer.

No beauty points for us.

While we do need to reload the talent in the program I am curious to see what Jalen, Gilbert and Vital can do in a real offensive system.

Providence is too aggressive offensively. Their guards lower their heads and try to go all the way to the hole, and end up either throwing the ball straight up in the air or getting stuffed by Texas A&M's help defense. In any event, Providence is all done.

Providence will find a way to blow it--they do literally every year. I kinda want them to win, but I just know they always choke

And right on cue, they do. They just do not play good fundamental basketball in crunch time. And getting crushed on the boards. The Flagrant foul pretty much just sealed it.

I feel for the Friar loyalists like Friar J, but man... that team has got to stop choking in the tourney. Seriously - they need to consider moving on from Cooley. The guy just can not get it done in the clutch. Totally unimpressive game plan.

Ed Cooley has a long term deal? He has to win a game like that.

Wait, isn't Cooley the best coach in Rhode Island, @whaler11 ?

(Just kidding. I don't think he is, but they were a 10 seed this year, and have only been as high as a 6. Still, only 1 NCAA win in 5 straight tournament appearances.)

His resume is better than Hurley’s.

They didn’t play too well today.

A&M much tougher draw than the walking corpse of Oklahoma.

I don't agree with you on the better resume. The point on the draw is right.

GA State has an early lead 18-14. One guy for GSU has 16 of them. What?
Wow, its hard to get 16 points in the entire 40 minute rock fight with Cincy, much less in a half. I bet the leprechaun's face is purple.

They should disband the program if they get rid of Cooley.

1st round exits are no fun. But, 5 tournament appearances in 5 years. 5 tournament appearances in the previous 24 years, including 0 in the previous 10. The new league has helped them but all the same, they were a dumpster fire pre-Cooley.
