Top Connecticut players never to play at UCONN

Anthony Harris (Danbury). Chose Syracuse
He was the #3 All-Time leading scorer in CT last I checked. He would've thrived at UConn, but went with his dream school, Syracuse. Got out of shape at Cuse, got in a bar fight, went to Juco, and ended up all-conference at Hawaii. I thought he was a sure NBA player in high school.

John Pinone and (younger brother) Steve both played for South Catholic. Broke my heart when John chose Nova over UConn. Steve ended up going to Nova as well and ironically was the brother who wound up leaving college with a National Championship ring.

Wayne Lawrence, 1956 graduate of Stonington, 3 times all-state. Played at Texas A&M and was 3rd team All-American in 1960. Drafted 40th overall by the Boston Celtics and was the last player cut before they went on to win the 1960-61 NBA title.

And his journey back to Stamford after a stint in a youth detention facility in Meriden, and admitting to Alswanger that he was illiterate… makes his story of a successful life post-BC even more impressive.
Three decades after a notorious point-shaving scandal derailed his career, former NBA prospect Ernie Cobb builds a new life in Phoenix. With no apologies.

New York Times sportswriter Dave Anderson once wrote, “Somebody, if not everybody, owes Ernie Cobb four years of basketball.”

Paul Atkins (Norwalk-Brien McMahon) New Mexico State
Phil Lott (Waterbury Wilby) - Hawaii
Don Polite (Weston HS) - Northwestern
Tony Jackson (Weston HS) - Notre Dame
Chris Watts (St. Joes) - Providence
Frenchy Tomlin (Harding) - U. Mass I believe

Marcus Camby...high probability that Calhoun would have won his first national championship before 1999.
I know what you're saying but I'm not sure that Camby and Jim Calhoun could have coexisted. Calipari allowed Camby to basically do what he wanted, when he wanted (off the court). Calhoun would have attempted to instil some discipline and basic rules.

Bobby could dunk at 14, all 5'7" of him. Was insanely fast.
Donnel - didn't he get killed?

unfortunately in 2011 was murdered
in new haven
Upon a quick google search, it looks like his son got into a gang and crime activity and was charged with murder a few years back. Really stinks to see a dad die and his son gets into the thing that killed him.

Oh man, that is sad. New Haven can be a tough place to escape from.
