Williams was terrific as a freshman. Her assist/to ratio improved every year. Her shooting percentage increase every year. She blocked 100+ shots every season.

Harrison is a very good player. But is certainly not clearly better than Williams. Her assist to ratio is horrid 35/96 and she only blocked 36 shots. She was in foul trouble often and it appeared to me she let her emotions impact her performance in a negative way when things didn't go well for her.

Williams is also a 3 time AA. Harrison was honorable mention once.

DD- I am going to respectfully disagree. I think E Williams will turn out to be almost a non entity in the pros. I think next year any of the highly talented sophomore power forwards/posts will be able to nullify her in big games. I think she is one of the big disappointments as far as B Ball growth since HS. She appears to be a phenomenal person and obviously highly intelligent. I don't see her as a superstar for sure. Solid really really good player. If she is the big gun, Final Four will be difficult. I would rather have , B Turner, Ariel Atkins, or that powerhouse going to Fl State next yr vs Williams- those three players by March/April will be as good as Williams. Or almost as Gd by then. Although Duke is getting new post/ P Forward Belton- she really impressed me in HS All Amer Game. She may help in paint and free up Williams to be more versatile around the hoop. I can't believe with all her training, she looks so horrible taking a jump shot or foul shot. That floors me.

UConn fans may know Stokes, but most of the nation doesn't. In three years she has never averaged more than 4.5ppg or 18mpg. Yes, she was playing behind Dolson, but even UConn fans will say that wasn't the only reason she wasn't more effective. She will get a chance to prove herself next year, but she has a lot to prove as a starter (far more than say, Coates from USC, who averaged about the same amount of minutes off the bench but almost tripled Stokes' scoring.)

With the lack of patience, why would anyone want to play in the post? A post player gets fewer opportunities to be involved in the offense, yet is expected to develop at the same rate. A post player gets blamed for missed shots because they appear easy, whereas guards are rarely blamed for missing jump shots. Guards cannot pass the ball into the post, yet somehow that gets blamed on the post player too.

Being a post player becomes a thankless job, and one which few coaches can appreciate fully because they never played the position.

That's not true of all coaches. While in Auriemma's system the post player is often the "worst in America," it's the point guard who is held responsible for whatever goes wrong, as Rizzotti and Bird famously lamented.
 
Digger, I would say playfully lamented. I don't think either wanted it any other way.

Williams pro potential is an interesting question to me. She might not be a starter but a backup post who can protect the paint has a lot of value. If she wants to, I bet she stay on a WNBA roster for a long time. Her offense is disappointing and it's surprising that her free throw shooting is getting worse. However, her resume is still incredible at this point in her career and she's a true defensive force at the college level

My point really was- there was real hype about her- big time! #1 pick and more. She is not much more than a really good player. I was comparing her to what everyone thought she would be I guess.
