Note that Bria is 5'7" : she shrinks again.

It happens with age (at least in the z axis, not so true for x and y)

Oddly enough, they introduced one of the Philly girls as 5'9". Bria towered over her. There's some wonky measuring sticks out there, for sure....

Thanks, Cat! Since I hardly ever see Thomas play except when they play UConn, that is exactly why I always wonder why Thomas is so highly ranked. I should have known the answer is Kelly.

Heh, this reminds me of Allan Iverson. I didn't see him play much other than against UConn, who (IIRC) had his number. I was always puzzled why people spoke so highly of him,t hen I realized I had a biased sample.

devils advocate here: Williams blocks more shots (107 including at least 0ne in every game she has played) vs 58 : pulled down 264 rebs vs 182: had 41 steals vs 40: higher scoring avg 15.2 vs 13.6: charged with 78 TO vs 86.

Dolson is the better center in your estimation but lets not say Williams does NOTHING better than Stephanie.
How do their rates per minute played compare. Remember that UCONN fans are prejudiced by how poorly players like her and Thomas fair against the Huskies.

The fact that Jewell Loyd did not even receive votes is shocking. IMO she is on equal footing with everyone but McBride, who gets the nod for experience, toughness and a history of making big plays.
I initially found that shocking as well, but then I thought about the categories used by ESPN and figured that she and McBride would both be categorized as SG, so McBride would certainly get the nod over her head-to-head.

Still can't believe they considered Bria Hartley a PG. Really? Geno sure doesn't! Just because she can play the position doesn't mean that's her position. It seems pretty clear that Jefferson is the PG and Hartley the SG.

I sort of find it amazing that these "experts" actually take the time to put stuff out like that when
  1. UCONN fans clearly know more than than the so called experts (as do serious fans of other schools like most of our visitors)
  2. A little research would allow them to get their info correct
I just find it interesting that they weren't aware Moriah would be the starting PG this year.

No offense, but you have the rebounds wrong. She had 269 in 43 less minutes. You did what I did with blocks. Looked at the wrong column. I looked at TO's instead of blocks.

One more steal? Again in 43 more minute than Dolson. I would call that even. 30 more points in 43 more minutes? Looks close enough to call even.

With how much the ball is in Dolson's hands, 8 more TO's in 43 more minute? I think the 70 more assists offsets that.

I will redo my original point.

Other than blocks, Williams does nothing better than Dolson.

Hartley has largely played PG thus far in her UConn career. I think she will continue to see some time at PG this season.

But my point was it's been out of necessity. Moriah is clearly a pure PG. She was the #2 or whatever kid coming out of HS. Any expert who did even 10 seconds of homework would realize it was very unlikely Bria would play the 1 this year.

If they paid attention to what Moriah did in the NCAA's as a freshman. If they paid attention to what she did over the summer for USA basketball. Or if the paid attention to what the players were doing at the start of this year, when they presumably made their list. If they had done any of the above they'd be aware she was/is our starting PG.

Hartley has been on the Nancy Lieberman award list every year. That is for best point guard.

This year, Jefferson is the point but Hartley is a combo guard. She will play plenty of point guard when Jefferson is not in the game and she is playing with KML at the 2.

So then they shouldn't have listed Bria at all, right?
If she's spent most of her time at PG, then how could they call her one of the best SG?

She's played PG and done well. Hence one of the best PG.

I don't see the need to denigrate the analysts.

I think that less than half her time Hartley played PG last year. Yes, she does play it. Doty and MoJeff played it whenever they were on the court.

What I found the funniest was Ochomwa as a power forward, note the word power. She is more like a marshmallow forward.
