After a rocky start against the Hall, we were able to settle down for the clear victory. We are looking to become more efficient against the zone and also to take better care of the ball. St. John's is always a well coached team and stand at 13-3 with their last loss being at Villanova on December 22nd by 37 points. Once again, it's how we do the things we need to do, not who we play. Here are my top 3 things:

1) Let's stop the overpassing by everyone, with Kayleigh especially taking the open shots in the paint or underneath.

2) Let's not force the ball inside against the zone but rather run the zone offense smoothly in preparation for March. There are plenty of safe high-low opportunities presented against the defense with our size.

3) Jana and Serah to be focused and perfect on the bunnies.

Each game gives us new opportunities to improve. What are your 3?

1. Keep perfecting that pressing defense
2. When K9 is is driving to the hoop and 1 or 2 big defenders are there, stop and take that pull up jumper.
3. If you are open, shoot it!

Basic stuff
  1. Stop with the overpassing. I get looking for assists is part of this teams' DNA, but it's becoming obvious that too much of it is a detriment.
  2. More time for Jana and less time for Serah. It's been long enough into the season to opine that Serah is not as good as we hoped, and Jana has been coming on strong.
  3. MANY more shots for Sarah and Azzi. Especially Sarah. She needs a minimum of 15 shots per game every game.

I bet K9 is shooting 50% + on the pull up shots. She is better shooting it going to her right. If she shoots and makes it it changes the defense. I agree 100%.

I would only say that Serah is a different player than we expected. Her defense fulfills expectations but her offense doesn't. It is a matter of footwork, using her left, and sticking to basic "get it and go up you are 6'4!". I agree that she has been a disappointment in this respect though but somehow I think I will not feel that way come April. And for Jana, something happened in the last few games. She is a different player offensively. It's huge for us.

  1. The big lineup — Serah Jana Blanca Allie Kayleigh — gets big minutes
  2. Jana hits several elbow jumpers
  3. Allie goes 4-6 from 3 again
1. That big lineup is a killer when the ball goes underneath or when Blanca drives. Kayleigh knows how to find Allie and she can also get the ball inside.

.-.
1. 40 minutes of domination
2. Clear progress on offensive execution. (97+ points against this weak opponent)
3. St. John's players questioning whether they still want to play basketball

Besides a win and no more injuries!...
Good minutes for Caroline, Kelis and maybe even Ayanna.
A dominant game from Serah.
Continued brilliance from Sarah and Azzi (& Blanca, too).
