So into the semifinals against an improved Creighton team. We still have refinements and notes but there was a lot to be happy about in the game today with Serah's performance being #1 on my list. She did not ascribe the change in her game to the proverbial "light going on" but rather to the culmination of hard work. Any way you want to look at it, it's a definite plus for us. Here are my top 3 things:

1) Peacock to sell their broadcast rights to SNY at a loss. That was brutal.

2) More minutes for Jana and setting her up to score better.

3) Reduce the turnovers to under 10 for the game. We had 10 at the half and that has to stop.

What are yours?

At this point, a win... but...

It's a "new season" now so... continue to forget about any bad games or bad play during the regular season. Focus in doing what each player does best going forward. Having said that...
  • "Bounceback" games for Sarah and Azzi - better shooting for Azzi, and more involvement from Sarah.
  • Serah to keep doing whatever she has the past 2-3 games. Continue to build and show out.
  • Blanca's parents are finally getting to see her live. The announcers in the G-Town game said she sometimes gets nervous when they are there live. That showed a bit with some of her early play. I'd LOVE to see her go off for 20 with her family from Ecuador in attendance.
Post script - continued inspired play from the non core bench. It was great seeing Carol drain a 3, Kelis show off her moves and athleticism, and Yanna her toughness.

Staying consistent with my asks.
1. Bigs continue to play aggressively, win the rebound battle and score
2. Limit turnovers, increase number of shots
3. Make it to the free throw line more often.
I don't think #1 will happen this late in the season against top bigs.
I would like #2 also. #3 won't happen. Geno has them play to get wide open shots so they hardly ever draw fouls, at least for the ones who shoot the most. Sarah might get some, but Azzi, not much. Inside, they get blocked a lot, so no fouls get called on those.

.-.
STAY HEALTHY!
1. Having Serah start out as she did vs G'town should be what happens in every future games!
2. Azzi and Sarah need to be more efficient scorers!
3. Everything starts off the defense!

I'm saying the same thing for every game going forward:
No injuries
Bigs continue to get better
Win and advance on

On a side note though I'd like see Ash score - but she had 6 assists against Georgetown and with the current team and players off the bench she really doesn't need to score, just do other Ash things

It's been my usual, but in light of the way the Georgetown game was played and officiated; a win and NO INJURIES!...

Blanca and Serah (in particular) to keep progressing in general and to concentrate on not turning the ball over.
Caroline to make 2 3's, Yanna to make a basket and 2 free throws and Kelis to score 10 points.
Sarah to come out and dish it out (if the game calls for it) and Azzi's shot to be on all game (& K-9 to healthy and safe).

On #1, perhaps you have forgotten how Jana and Ice played against UCLA and SC last year. The bigs need to deliver a credible defense down low and take the scoring opportunities they are given. I am more optimistic than you are.
On #3, we do have cutters like Kayleigh, KK, Blanca, Ally, Ashlyn, and Azzi. I expect them to get to the line and score.
