After a resounding win over a good Iowa team at Barclays, it's on to iconic Hinkle Fieldhouse against Butler. With each game, no matter how well we play, there is always a wish list of improvements or modifications to make us even better. This time of year, here is the list that I'm sending to Santa. He is really busy now so keep your list to 3 things. Definitely nothing though.

1) Kayleigh and Jana to get back on the train. Last game was only adequate for both of them and we need them both at top form for March and April.

2) Ash to just keep on shooting both 3s and pull ups. They will drop sooner rather than later and it makes us even more overwhelming.

3) We are missing open players in the offense off the first and second cut. Give it. If it's Blanca, Sarah, or Azzi who are open, it's money.

What are yours?

Oh yeah. One more thing. A most Happy and Healthy Holiday to all the incredibly knowledgeable, loyal and passionate fans on the Boneyard.

STAY HEALTHY!
1. Total defensive pressure for the full 40 minutes is so important to maintain!
2. Azzi to be more consistent for the whole game!
3. Serah and Jana (the Great Pyramid) to be a dominant force during their PT!

.-.
Without sounding like a Pollyanna (maybe its the holidays), most of my top "wants" have been satisfied recently. I saw the "true" Serah -great shot blocking, aggressive offense, etc. Blanca has become more consistent, putting in some highlight reels in recent games, KK's outside shooting has improved, and Ash's overall performance on both offense and defense is strong. Suspect that everyone will eat against Butler so little to request.

Butler is ranked by Massey at #117, higher than 12 of the 13 opponents that LSU has played so far this season, with one more left #350 Alabama St on 12-28-25 before their Conference play begins, the team ranked higher was Duke.

In no particular order
  • Azzi and Sarah to get 12+ shots each and 20+ points in their limited minutes
  • Serah, Kayleigh and Allie to continue to improve and get more comfortable out there. Oh and Blanca to continue to shine
  • For the bench to look good in Q4 as I believe no starters will see the floor after Q3...

.-.
1). Azzi and Sarah not playing 30 plus minutes when we are up 25 plus in the 3rd and 4th quarter.
2). Dominate on both ends of the floor.
3). Bench points 25 plus.

This is the formula for the next 5 games.( 1 ) Score 90+ Points. ( 2 ) 25 Turnovers and 20+ Steals. ( 3 ) 40+ rebounds. GO HUSKIES!!!

This is a home coming game for Ash. She will have a lot of family and friends there. I really hope she puts on a show with a superior game. So, my 3 things are:

Ash
Ash
Ash
Just seems that with her that when she hits her first two shots she gets instant confidence and let's them fly.

Or maybe she see's that when her shot isn't going in that it's better to pass up a three and give it to someone else that is currently hitting their shots. A player that knows they are struggling will pass it to the players that aren't struggling and do other stuff that helps the team like lock down defense.

Of course but you don't just stop shooting. With her she is very streaky and if she really thinks "Oh my shot isn't working, I'm going to p[ass" I think that is not optimum at all. It's true that she helps the team in other ways, most notably defense and offensive rebounding, but we need that third knock down 3 point and pull up shooter (only Azzi, Sarah and Ash have traditional form pull up jump shots). So when she is open she should shoot regardless of what happened on the last shot. The best shooters have no memory. We will need those shots to go in come late March and early April.

Puts me in mind of when Kristin was having trouble with a string of poor shooting games.
Geno didn’t pull her off the starting 5, but suggested she “find something else to do”
So she started rebounding, assisting and working on her defense
She became our lockdown defender
None of the above are beyond Ash’s capabilities

I still maintain that you need her as a consistent third outside shooter. Azzi and Sarah are both going to be face guarded or doubled and you need that other option. Kristin was not even close to the shooter Ash is. Different shot, different form.
