So, it's that time of year again and we are a different team than we were just one month ago. We don't want to regress but we will be playing 3 games in 3 days so that is a consideration. Anyway, here are my top 3 things:

1) Let's put this one away early.

2) Ice and Aubrey to continue the strong play.

3) All offensive cylinders firing early with Paige leading the way.

To paraphrase someone on the BY, "I don't know what a deep bench looks like because I can't even remember what a bench is". Well, you are looking at one now. What are your top 3?

In the next 3 games, its the same each time for me
  1. Aubrey
  2. Aubrey
  3. Aubrey

1. At least for the 1st game use as many players as possible to save the legs of the starters and first subs for Semi's and Finals where they'll most likely play more minutes than usual!
2. Star players, especially, have to play at their highest levels to get it ingrained for the NCAA Tournament!
3. Everyone has their foot on the gas pedal right from the tip till the final buzzer! TAKE NO PRISONERS! Everybody eats!

1. Who starts Aubrey or Jana. This could make a huge difference going forward
2. No injuries
3. Big early lead -everyone plays

More mins for Jana
Keep feeding Jana.... going to need her against the likes of UCLA,Texas and USC if they make it to the elite 8
Azzi start putting a string of consecutive games shooting well

This is going to be a bit of a ramble but... first tho - it's March now. I know we all know that, but the reality for most UConn teams of the past is that Geno tightens up the rotation and doesn't throw any new wrinkles out there for players to absorb. UConn will play Butler or SJU. So...
  1. Even tho the game will be a blowout, I'd prefer NOT to see a steady stream of Carol, Q and Allie. Tighten up the rotation and put players in that in groups you expect to see all tournament long. Now is not the time for "everybody eats".
  2. Love to see extended play for the lineup of Paige, Azzi, Sarah, and Aubrey. Either with Cait or KK running the point. IMHO this is our best lineup.
  3. Continued pressure defense all game long. Get in the habit of doing it. We have the depth so let's work on it. And frankly I don't care if the MOV is 80 as a result - the team needs to know they have the stamina to do that in a big game where it might be needed for 40 minutes.
With the players coming back from injuries, Not sure who his "core" group will be but I suspect Cait, Azzi, Paige, Sarah, Jana, Aubrey, Ice, KK and Ash. I'd really like to see the games now played with the best lineups that Geno feels are most effective with no more experimenting.

Set the tone for the remainder of the season:
1. Stifling defense for 40 minutes
2. Win the possession battle (Rebounds + +, turnovers - -)
3. Continuous movement of players and ball to create and make high percentage shooting opportunities inside and outside.

To me the no injuries and win the game are always important and present. What I'd like to see in tournament time is
1. Get the rotations perfected with extended playing time
2. Go for the jugular for 40 minutes even if it means 80 point blow outs
3. Everyone who is in the tournament rotation do their job every minutes they are in the game.

Remember my favorite Geno quote (best as I can recall: Great players don't get tired. They just don't. When good players get tired the great players kick their butts (last word changed to keep the sensitive happy).

1. Azzi needs to start to be consistent on offense (her defense has been great).
2. Ice and Aubrey take over the post and contribute some inside offense
3. Paige runs the show. She is the best facilitator on the team and that is what she needs to do for a while.

1. Good results from the "regulars", a warmup for games 2 & 3.
2. A fine game from Aubrey, "just enough minutes".
3. A wonderful "tag team" between Jana and Ice

Do, now that we know it's St John's (& besides the imperative of a comfortable win and no injuries):
1) Keep all the starters (plus the 1st 4 off the bench) to under 30 minutes. For reference, St John's had 4 players playing 30 plus minutes in their win over Butler - not a great thing when confronting the Big East Tournament gauntlet.
2) Everybody eats (& hopefully that includes those who aren't usually the biggest eaters).
3) "Tournament Ice" re-emerges even more intensely and also rubs off on Jana.

I’ve already given my list, but after watching the games yesterday (in person), I’ve amended my list to include only one item:

1. Fair and accurate referees.
