After a difficult 1st quarter against Xavier and then a record tying shooting performance by Allie, there are obvious concerns about this game, which looms so large for many reasons, including the last major test before the post season, the last team we lost to, and the greatest historic rivalry in women's college basketball. We saw Tennessee play at Barclay's and they are very, very big and physical but had a hard time against Louisville's second half press. I will be coming up from Jersey for the game so here are the top 3 things I want to see:

1) Blanca and Serah- We need their size and Blanca's game changing defense and scoring.

2) Azzi- It will come back against the Vols. Keep shooting. If the 3 is off shoot the pull up, if the pull up is off drive, but stay aggressive on offense.

3) Stay out of foul trouble especially Sarah, and KK. Vols start at point a freshman from the USA Today #1 high school team last year, Morris Catholic of Denville, New Jersey. She had trouble against the Louisville press and trust me, nobody presses the PG like KK. Not even HH, not nobody.

You gotta have 3 for this game so dish please.

Patience
Poise
Energy

This is why they came to UConn. For a game like this. They will be very focused, pumped and full of energy. The execution will be crisp because this is what the great ones live for...games like this.

1. An earlier injury report. I hate surprises.
2. A return of all of our rotation players (not Ice or Morgan)
3. A beatdown so brutal that Tennessee loses their will to compete for years.

.-.
1. Solid defense down low and shooting with soft hands. Too many bunnies being lost.
2. Pressing defense for 40 minutes to limit their outside shooters and cause turnovers.
3. Re-establish consistency in our shooting and dominate game after getting an early lead.

1. A healthy Blanca and Serah, and Carol
2. A "hot" AZZI
3. A hot ALLIE
P.S. Kayleigh in one piece at the end of the game!!!

Handle the pressure and attack to score.
Bench play will be important..Allie, K 9 and Blanca, possibly JANA
Refs and what they call and do not call. Revenge for last year.

1. Serah and Blanca back and productive
2. Azzi stops pressing and finds her groove again
3. Control from the start - we keep giving teams “breath” in the 1st Qtr - focus/determination from the jump

Show Tennessee what a real press is
Intensity and focus for the full 40 minutes
Score at least 90 points and hold Tennessee to under 60.

The Tennessee players dejected by the end of the first half
Balanced scoring -- five players in double figures with maybe one going for 25 or 30
Some teams win ugly, I want UConn to win half-ugly. That is, UConn plays pretty, Tennessee plays ugly

The defensive pressure is cumulative - it wears the other team down, they get no quarter.
Pressure, Pressure, Pressure get them looking over their shoulder "where are they?"
When that happens in this game, things could get physical, so composure will be necessary.
Let's see someone else score 20+ this time.

I only want one thing. I would like to see UCONN beat TN so badly, they are so embarrassed that they will never, ever again agree to play us.

But I doubt that will happen.

I AGREE! My 3 things are ( 1 ) Out score them til it hurts. ( 2 ) Create 15 steals and 25 turnovers. ( 3 ) Set a NEW 3-point record of 22. and GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!! Hey! it's what I would like to see.

I have a conditional 3 things:
  1. If Serah is back, I want to see her stymie the Tennessee bigs with Jana's help.
  2. If Blanca is back, I want to see her have one of those games that leaves opposing teams shaking their heads.
  3. If neither of them is back, I want to see KK Ash Azzi Allie and Kayleigh crush Tennessee with a relentless press.

.-.
1. Do not play any injured players who have not fully recovered.
2. K9 all over the court, again, on offense and defense
3. Other players try to outscore Allie.
