Top 3 Things You Want To See Friday Night Against Providence

1. A relaxing game (translation: A high scoring total from Azzi in the first half)
2. Caroline continuing to hone her game.
3. More camera shots of Dorka and Paige cheering from the bench.

I hope Santa Claus delivers but ... ;)
Beercats…….keep hope alive.
I hope to hear that our starters all woke up Friday morning feeling dangerous, and take that feeling to the court. Dangerous as in being in rhythm and full of energy.

With Dorka still out our rotation has 7 players.
With some flu apparently going around and it being
Providence I hope Geno can give them some time off in a
game where we shouldn't need them for big-time minutes...some rest and
recuperation for ND on Sunday.

With one exception: assuming she is health-wise fine by Friday I would love
to see Ayanna get a significant boost in her PT in this game. I think she would
have success against the Providence inside players....and the more Ayanna plays and continues
to develop her confidence the better. So..I'd love to see Ayanna get 20-25 minutes of PT Friday
and do some dominating.

I put it here so folks might better notice it.
During commercials you might want to check out South Carolina
mixing it up with UCLA....7:00 on SECN.

Can UCLA hang with SC...UCLA did whomp LadyVol recently?
No. UCLA will not defeat SC if Boston plays. She sprained her ankle their last game, and was shown wearing a boot on the bench. I’d like the Bruins to knock them off, but it won’t happen.

I don't think they win even if Boston doesn't play, not at SC

Azzi decides to play in the first half..she can coast in the 2nd..probably be way ahead by then
Patterson to get extra mins spelling AE and only having 2 fouls
Everyone stay healthy

ordinarily i'd be worrying about a huskies' letdown against the likes of the friars. a 'trap' game after a tough victory and before the challenge of meeting a traditional rival (that also is highly ranked, and pretty good -- and on their home court) ... a much-anticipated game.

but i don't think this will be a problem, primarily because nika is there. although it's possible some huskies could slack off (it has happened with some really good previous teams), nika's a leader and a motivator who won't allow any complacency regardless of the opponent. she's always focused on winning ... at all costs and whatever the odds.

kind of like jen rizzotti -- though otherwise i don't see much comparison.

I would like to see Nika get about 10-15 points. Not that she needs to but i just want to see her do it.
I would like to see Ines get some good playing time
I want to see us running and gunning at our best.

Everybody healthy going into the game and no injuries during the game
Our top seven players playing about even minutes, getting their work done early and all getting some rest during the game
Ines and Amari getting good chunks of playing time and taking full advantage of it

Caroline continues to improve
Nika continues double digit assists
Playing time for Ines. She could be starting and playing everyday if she went to that school in Florida. I don't want her to regret her decision to come here.

1. Tough tough defense. Crooms went off for 27 points in the first match-up last year. UConn won with a MOV of 8 points.
2. CD to continue her remarkable progress and finding her stride. AP also!
3. No injuries!

1. Providence wearing their black uniforms.
2. Liberal substitutions.
3. DeBerry, Ines & Ayanna getting to play some meaningful minutes.
Players that sit on the bench too long can lose their skills.
Even some MLB bench players get sent down to AAA so they can play every day & stay sharp.
Practicing doesn't replace game experience which Azzi also mentioned regarding her playing PG.

Don't run up the score too much.
Winning by 10 or less seems fair
The other team's parents are watching, so lighten up
This is more a pro-player development league. It's not rec-ball and so not about parents watching. As I watch the games I infer Geno is working on team & player development right up to the last 4 minutes of a blowout. He'll move his focus to the halfcourt game with a comfortable lead, but never let's up on execution. I think that's the right choice to honor the players and the game.

consistent team ball at both ends of the court.....give the starters some rest if and when UConn gets big lead........nobody gets hurt......
