That was a very stressful game with Michigan showing both our strengths and our weaknesses. It's Utah on Sunday and here are my top 3 things. A win and no injuries are always givens:

1) 4 quarters of UCONN defense.

2) Blanca, Jana, Allie and K9 to have strong games as subs.

3) Make the 3rd quarter our strongest offensively not worst almost ever.

I think we will see a different team out there on Sunday. One more step towards the finish line.

1. 4 complete quarters
2. Bench points
3. Serah shows she can actually rebound

1) Have the team get some rest, reflect, get really pissed off at their tentativeness, and go out and give a whooping for 40 minutes
2) Be so good that Geno feels secure in playing his starters no more than 25 minutes (especially Sarah and Azzi)
3) Have every player with an open jumper (3 or otherwise) shoot without hesitation and with confidence

1)Defense first as always
2)Serah show some physicality and dominate the 6'3" Chyra Evans
3)Beside Sara and Azzi the other 3 starters and players coming off the bench show tremendous improvement from what they were against Michigan against a far inferior team in Utah

1. Geno use his bench to develop players a lot more. Players need meaningful game time experience.
2. Bigs using head and shoulder fakes, drop steps then power move up. Stop caving to pressure from defense. Come on coaches !
3. Ash not every shot requires a high leap. KK stop getting jammed up inside on your dribble / take some pull up jumpers.

Stay Healthy
1. Keep the pressure on for 40 minutes not just the 1st 1/2!
2. Everyone finds their shooting touch!
3. Play Azzi and Strong about 28 minutes not 40!

1. Confident understanding about who should shoot and when, depending on the shot clock and game situation. Reduce tentativeness.
2. Offensive (even rude) rebounding.
3. Full speed for 40.

Last year we had the “big” three. So far, we have the “big” two. We need to have another player step up and become a reliable scoring threat. Ash is struggling to find her consistency, several others have shown up, but again, no consistency. Usually two will be enough to win, but against the elite teams, we need a third scorer. Hopefully over the course of the season, a third player will step up. But, it may be a different player in each game. We struggle against Michigan’s zone. Lot’s of three point shots, but besides Azzi, were the right players taking the shots? We really need to improve our three point shooting. Hopefully it will improve against Utah.

People making shots not named Sarah or Azzi. Ash, Allie, K9 someone. If Allie's role is 3 point shooting then she has to make some. Ash can hit mid-range pull ups, I've seen her do it. Do it. You other bench people, score some points

Get some offensive rebound and put back baskets. When you see 0 for 10 and 2 for 18 shooting streaks you know the bigs aren't winning the down low battles.

Win, pretty if possible

  1. Allie
  2. Allie
  3. Allie
I say this because I have high hopes for her, but also because she is like the canary in the coal mine for bench depth. If things go well with Allie on the floor, then all is probably well with the team.

We will! It’s Utah

1. Score more than 5 pts each quarter
2. Everyone healthy
3. Caro to Yanna alley oop

.-.
Bigs that are highly motivated to rebound and demostrate to the skills to make a shot within 5 feet.

Less minutes and rest for SaraH
Same as above for Azzi
Bench players show they can do it

1. Better shooting consistency from Ash. Her defensive hustle is unquestionable.
2. More Haeckel. IMO she should be starting, even though it probably makes a smaller guard heavy group.
3. Some rest for Azzi and Sarah.

I’d like to see Utah play a challenging 2-3 matchup zone so we gain more experience and more importantly we have success against it. Go Huskies!

I would really like to see Ash have a serious breakout game on offense. Serah do some real damage in the paint.

.-.
1. I want to see Ash get her shooting touch back. Currently she is only making 33% of her shots, the worst on the team. She needs to be a reliable threat to score.
2. Blanca needs to be more reliable in general. Bad things seem to happen as often as good things. She has the potential to be the difference maker for UConn. Cut down on turnovers!
3. From the past experience of Williams I expected her to be a rebounding machine. I want to see that player on a regular basis starting with this game.
