Top 3 Things You Want to See Against Notre Dame on Thursday Night. Game is at 7:00 p.m. at Notre Dame

I just have a feeling that the 2 injured big girls for ND will be back for this game!

1. Our big girls dominate their big girls
2. Every player for us plays their best game of the season so far!
3. Be injury free

.-.
1. Sarah, Ice, and Jana DOMINATE the Notre Dame frontcourt players. I think Prosper is the only ND player who has a shot at playing with Sarah. I think Koval has lots of potential, but she’s neither quick nor fast, and her footwork isn’t there yet.

2. The UConn guards contain the ND guards. The matchups of Kaitlyn/KK on Hidalgo, Azzi/Ash/Paige on Miles and Paige/Morgan on Citron are really pretty favorable. I think we might see more of KK than the last few games, as I think she’s a better matchup defensively.

3. Control the boards. Each of Notre Dame’s starting guards had double-digit rebounds against Syracuse. As pointed out earlier, it will be a long game if ND does a lot of running. UConn needs to force Notre Dame to plau UConn’s game rather than vice-versa.

1. They seem to have no answer defensively for Sarah. No one fast enough, no one with the IQ to block her on the passing lanes or to try and bully ball with her. Koval may be taller, but she definitely isn't enough to guard Sarah, not if ND wants to double Paige or Azzi.

2. I expect HH will not be contained, but Miles and Citron maybe. HH has just looked unstoppable, Miles and Citron have had their moments of vulnerability. Whether it be TOs or wonky shooting nights.

3. Sarah, Paige, Jana, and Ice are all very capable rebounders. I don't think we'll have as much of an issue, especially because Jana and Sarah are much more aggressive under the basket than the Syracuse players.

Also y’all, don’t forget:

Paige’s “bad night” vs ND last season was 17 PTS on 5-17.

Bad FG% but almost 20 points was a “bad night.”

would be nice if the broadcast crew would acknowledge citron as a star and ease off the gushing over miles (which is somewhat justified) and hannah. they ain't the whole ND thing.
Bravo, PacoSwede! Sonia is well regarded, but nearly enough so... consider last year's ND/UConn game when she shut down Paige, and numerous other times she's supplemented her offensive contributions with lockdown D on a rival's best player.

This season, Paige has a lot more support, yet it'll still be interesting to see if the Bueckers/Citron battle will play a key role in the game's outcome.

1). Pressure. Set the tone offensively and defensively. Be in attack mode from the tip!

2). Composure/Poise

3). Confidence. Every shot. Every rebound. Every boxout. Every pass. Confidence. If that pass goes into the stands. So be it. You threw that pass with confidence! Brush it off and move on to the next play.

Let's go, UConn. Championship Mindset.

Get used to the intensity within 1 quarter.

Paige/someone to make shots to keep the team calm and composed.

Forcing their guards LEFT. I need to see some actually pressure on Hannah and Miles to drive to their weak side.

Three things:
  • Show just how much farther along Geno’s team and players to the team and players Geno will mold them to in March/ April;
  • Pick apart Notre Dame’s obvious weaknesses: a comparatively weak post presence, a very short and non-points producing bench, a heavy reliance on its hyperkinetic opportunistic transition offense, its underdeveloped half court game, its players’ known tendencies, etc;
  • A statement game on the re-emergence of dominant intense beautiful UConn basketball;
Already priced-in:
  • With enough seasoning, this team is primed to dominate most of its competition.
