Top 10 Players in Women’s College Basketball History

If you look at college careers and pro careers, sometimes the results are different. I would drop Bird (though I love her) and Parker, because they played only 3 or so seasons. Both would be on my top-10 pro list. I would replace Parker with Holdsclaw (3 championships and 3,000+ points) on the college list.

Paris was a great college player (4x first-team All-American), so I include her, but I would have to add Clark and maybe Plum.

I'm not sure I'd include Seimone. Great, but maybe top 15.

I think Stewie, Diana, and Maya are no-brainers, though the order is debatable. I still think Maya was the greatest.

Some early players are worthy of consideration: Lieberman, Woodard, Meyers, Leslie.

This is total clickbait but the first three selections are accurate. Although I would swap Maya Moore (make her two) and Taursi (make her 3)

Courtney Paris and in my humble opinion Sue Bird are not top 10 players of all-time. Jefferson was way better than Bird. If I were looking for a point Guard it would be M.Jefferson.
So you added your clickbait to their clickbait? ;)

I love these comparisons. Dimaggio vs Mantle. Montana vs Brady. Ali vs Louis. Jordan vs Russell. Suffice it to say that we would take anyone of them any day of the year and be happy.

So to add to the clickbait, I'll nominate Pearl Moore for the list, the original. Linking to her wikipedia career and stats here, but her averages put everyone to shame, and with no 3 point shot available.

These lists are fun, but they also lose all respect & seriousness when names like Lusia Harris, Anne Meyers, and Nancy Lieberman are left off. Heck the writer(s) couldn't even show some love to Lynette Woodard? Before there was Jackie, Kelsey, and Caitlin, Ms. Woodard was putting up points without the 3-point line. No love for Anne Donovan? Lisa Leslie? Tamika Catchings? The McGee Twins? Chamique Holdsclaw?

Well it's not supposed to be taken seriously. After all it's MSN, synonymous with clickbait. The writer is probably about 25 yo and has never heard of any of these players. Research and journalism are not words they are familiar with.

I will make this case for Paige, and it's not conclusive by any means, but in terms of stats, she belongs right up there with Maya. If you adjust for the 31 more games Maya (and the other UConn GOATs played in), Paige is the scoring champ and is very close to Maya in most other categories (Assists, Steals, Blocks, etc). As for the rest, Breanna Dee Phee, they're GOATs in my book, always will be, but the line forms behind Maya and Paige. And I'm keeping a place warm for Sarah even now.

This is only a UConn list, but being at or near the top of the UConn pantheon has to mean she belongs near the top of the WCBB pantheon.

And a side note for those folks who insist that Clark be appended to Paige's star at every opportunity I can only say, Pffffffffft. If Paige had played 4 injury free years, she'd have eclipsed Clark every season just like she did as a freshman, and I'm pretty sure she'd have won at least one more NC.

Pot officially stirred.
