Tonites game shows us

We have 3 good games after tonite. Ohio St Michigan and Utah. All good tests. Tonite may define how minutes are distributed. Tonites game is not a tuff test I feel the coaching staff will be looking at who is ready to make a contribution. I will comment on our defense. I called KK and Ash the Terror Twins last season. Neither were depended on for scoring alot of points but they both did disrupt the game on defense. This season Azzi Kayleigh Ash and KK have been great on defense and Blanca in the exhibition games. Playing UConn Defense they way they do tells me they or their teammates will get baskets because of the Defense they play.

We cant depend on Sarah and Azzi to do all the scoring. I feel Serah will come around and tonite will tell us alot about her and everybody else because we do play fast and we do need to slow it down when we are shooting. Thats called poise. I also like Kayleigh hitting shots on pull ups and from the outside.

Tonite will define Jana Allie Ice and Yana. I feel Azzi Sarah KK and Kayleigh have shown what they can do and Serah needs a little adjustment and she will be fine. Caroline looked like her ole self and I am confident she is on her way back and will be a starter if she builds on her last game. Morgan Blanca Kelis and Gandy need time.

Tonite will show us who is ready and who may need a little more time to get up to speed. Tonite could be explosive. We are going to reach different levels that make us even better then we are throughout the season. We are going to get better individually and as we do we will reach another level as a team. Our defense is even better then last season because of all the different players we have and what they can do. Last season KK and Ash we complete terror. We have more terror twins on the team this season. Because of that we will score alot more points off turnovers.

WIth all that said we need more shooters. Kayleigh has stepped up and KK showed us she can hit open shots. Caroline and Allie would be great additions to our scorers.

BTW we have only THE BIG O coming in and Geno has a few more he's waiting on. One thing we know is Geno always gets his girls.

I don't see how anything positive can come about by playing such an inferior opponent. I understand why Loyola is on the schedule, but I'm a believer that having a hard practice would be 5X the benefit of beating up on Loyola.

A couple things:

ND and USC will also be competitive games.

I think Geno will precisely rely on Azzi and Sarah for the main scoring punch all season long. Against FSU they each scored 20+ in roughly 20 mins. They already have a two-woman game that is in mid season form. Will it help to get double figure points from elsewhere? Yes of course. But it doesn’t really matter who it is on any given night. If Serah scores 10-15 points, that’s great. But if it’s KK or Ash or Allie or Kayleigh or Jana or Carol or Blanca, that’s just as good. And what do we think the odds are that once March rolls around Azzi and Sarah will play 30+ mins and score 25+ pts each?

I have no problem with those two carrying the load. They can handle it. Last March/April, Paige Azzi and Sarah regularly combined for nearly 60 pt/g. I have a feeling we’ll see Azzi and Sarah combine for 50+ pts/g next March. Why? Because Sarah seems to be more scoring minded this season and Azzi seems to be more assertive than last season. We’re looking at sophomore Azzi but now wiser and craftier.

Sometimes it gets old practicing against the same players, day-in & day-out.

Just as Tonyc tells us, many need time, and to make that time worthwhile, some of the starters need to still be in the game. Instead of only a 1 person sub, we may have more two person subs tonight.

I don't think any "Hockey style" line changes are ever happening under Geno, unless it is for all the Seniors at the end of the NC game.
