And we are doomed.

Not blaming the officials for the loss. However, didn't we have a foul to give? Wasn't Bria purposely fouling Diggins on her drive to stop the clock?

Kantner did the Big 12 final yesterday and the ACC final the day before.Prior to the game and before the refs were known, I opined to my friends in attendance that we would get 3 of the 4 worst refs in wcbb: Kantner, Spence, DeMayo and Brooks. We ended up with three. Spence was the "reserve ref", dressed and in the wings in case of illness or injury.
I figure Kantner flew all night from whatever bog game she did yesterday to be on ESPN again -- she seems to want the biggest televised games.
Having said this, the refs did not cause UConn's loss tonight. I think four reasons: 1) our guard play was terrible, again (last number of games have shown this weakness); 2) the whole team played tentatively for some reason; 3) Mosqueda-Lewis took no 3's because she was never open and the screens set were sloppy; 4) McBride was unstoppable, again. So, one factor in ND's favor, 3 against UConn. In sum, UConn lost, ND did not win, the refs were not the deciding factor despite some inexplicably bad calls (on both sides) and the fantom loss of a second or two near the end.
I have to laugh that people are complaining about ref's not calling a foul on their own team. I don't think that happens very often. UConn actually went to the line more than ND, which is rare and Dolson had zero fouls, despite playing aggressively. I thought she played extremely well.
I understand the why. I just find it amusing. Especially in light of many fans (not just UConn fans) complaints about most of the fouls that actually are called on their team. Why, if the foul is called, ND has the ball on the sideline with 11 seconds, instead they get fast break uncontested lay-up. The odds are if the foul is called we go to overtime
