I've never seen former Dookie Alaa Abdelnaby be a game analyst before. He's solid doing the Temple/SMU game right now. He played a big part in the 1990 Dook/UCONN E8 game. He gave big props to Napier at halftime while discussing the AAC and their 5 ranked teams.

And there's something you don't see everyday, the CBSSN sideline reporter interviewing one of the refs during halftime.

Last time I saw Adelnaby was on a beach in Jamaica at a reggae fest. I'll just say he wasn't to coherent then.

We cannot overlook Temple. They almost beat Cincinnati and Texas at home and have a 6 point lead on SMU in the 2nd half. They have shooters.

SMU is ahead of us in the standings.

Wouldnt be the worst thing for them to lose. Would it? We want a top 3 seed in the conference tourney

I'd like a ranked team in Gampel next weekend, hope SMU pulls it out.

Good lord.

I would not trust this SMU team on a neutral floor in March.

They have looked scared to death and tight as hell the second it was apparent Temple would give them a battle. Missing free throws, missing every shot at the rim, bricking everything, turning it over.

There really must be Moody Magic.

We absolutely should be rooting for SMU to win this one. It's a wash from an RPI perspective, but what we want right now is more Top 25 wins on our resume. SMU losing makes our loss to them look worse and an upcoming win vs. them less impressive. Temple is garbage this year. A win doesn't change that and looks bad for the top half of the conference.

You can add stopped rebounding too to the things SMU did down the stretch.

Don't like this loss at all. A win over them now gets diminished.

They beat Temple by 23 at home this year!

SMU is just a total Jekyll & Hyde show home & away this year.

Good for Temple. Our "win" over SMU or loss to them is far less damaging than our loss to Houston, and our win over Florida offsets almost anything else that happens the rest of this year.

Right! We cannot afford to let down against anyone. Road games are tough. We need to play with aggression, confidence but not over-confidence and poise.

Except a deep run in AAC tourney which is why I like SMU losing. The better our seed the better our odds of that happening.

That sucks. SMU is going to play themselves back to the tourny bubble. We might have an NIT team and a "middleclass" afterall.

Everyone who wanted more parity can rejoice.

Don't understand this sentiment at all. Do you really think we match up that much better against Louisville than Cinci? Because that quarterfinal matchup is basically all being a 3-seed vs. a 4-seed buys us at this point.

One reason you wanted SMU to win is because every game an AAC team plays in the NCAA tour. this year is worth 1.5M to the conference.

And even with that sentiment, UConn was set to earn that 3 seed on merit and without SMU throwing their national cred away.

I think what he's saying is we are much better off having essentially a walkover vs Houston in the quarters than having to deal with SMU or Memphis.

That is a bad loss but don't get so wrapped up in the top 25. The committee relies heavily on the RPI so just hope that SMU stays in the top 50 and it will be considered a good win. I remember one year UNLV was left out even though they were ranked something like 23rd in the AP poll. Sure it looks nice looking at our schedule with a win over #23 SMU but it also looks nice to havea win over #5 Oklahoma St and that win is trending towards meaning absolutely nothing.

But that money is spread out over 7 years. UConn will hardly see any of it.
