Tina had a nice freshman campaign, but she had trouble against Sylvia in the tourney. In fact, when Sylvia blocked one of Tina's shots, I think that's when Tina hurt her shoulder and needed surgery.

The following year, we lost to Stanford and Jayne Appel. Geno said that "We have no post presence."

The following 2 years were very different. Starting in the middle of her junior season, Tina found another gear. She dominated Louisville in the championship game.

In her senior season, Tina won the majority of the NPOY awards, beating out her roommate, Maya Moore. Anyone who tops Maya Moore is a cut above.

Tina came to UConn with a gimpy shoulder. That play may have aggravated it, though

Tina's excellence as a professional and as a peson is clear testament to Geno's uncanny ability to get his players to their very best. Sure, sometimes that requires tough love and perhaps some players don't like it; but, for sure, those who succeed eventually appreciate it. And, most do succeed . . . in basketball and in life.
Tina's mom knew it was called for. Now Tina does too. All that's uncalled for is for someone to say it was uncalled for.
I hope today's "nicer" Geno is still the old "meanie" when it's called for.
