Others to consider--Tayler Hill, Sammy Prahalis, someone else from Notre Dame, Elizabeth Williams, Williams or Johnson from Miami, Alyssa Thomas, Kevi Luper.

Lucas and Bentley may well give Prahalis a run for the all Conference positions if PSU wins Monday and takes the B1G title. If PSU beats OSU Monday they take the conference title.

Here is my first team. Pick away...

Delle Donne (Delaware)
Griner (Baylor)
N. Ogwumike (Stanford)
Diggins (Notre Dame)
Hartley (UCONN)
Sims (Baylor)
Stricklen (Tennessee)
C. Ogwumike (Stanford)
Mathies (Kentucky)
Rogers (Georgetown)

Take off the bottom 4..... replace them with Tayler Hill, Shenise Johnson, Alyssa Thomas, and Hayes.

Taylor Hill is the heart of the OSU team. OSU played very well the other night without Sammy who was out with the flu. I'm not sure that would be true of OSU missing Taylor for a game.

The first 4 are no-brainers.

Re Bria, despite what other BYers have written, I have her about even with Tiff. There are up to 7 games left. Let's see how things work out. I agree that Bria has been the better big game player, but Tiff's overall numbers are better.

I'm pretty sure I have Sims in my top 10.

Stricklen--close. Like others, I pick Tiffany over her.

Chiney--maybe my expectations were too high. Great rebounder and defender with energy, noit the shooter I expected. Almost certainly next year. This year-- top 10 or top 20?

Mathies--maybe. I know she is Kentucky's best player, but .... Actually, I have not seen her.

Rogers--nope. Second ten, maybe. A volume shooter and low percentage shooter.

Others to consider--Tayler Hill, Sammy Prahalis, someone else from Notre Dame, Elizabeth Williams, Williams or Johnson from Miami, Alyssa Thomas, Kevi Luper.

As noted, I want 7 more games to decide. My draft February 17 list (how's that for hedging?):

Griner
Delle Donne
N. Ogwumike
Diggins
Sims
Hayes
Hill
Thomas
Luper
1 vacant slot

Note that Chiney is third in the nation in FG % at 60.7% while averaging 16 points and 10.3 rebounds. Now, most of those shots are around the basket, but so are Griner's, although Griner does have better touch that Chiney. But either way, 60% is 60% and hardly a stat that should disqualify her from consideration.

Chiney's FG percentage and rebounding are outstanding. So is her defense. If she had come to UConn, we'd still have the streak. :)

Had she gone to Baylor the streak would have ended sooner. It really hurts watching the top talent leave the state.

So many ifs in women's basketball. If Danielle Wilson, who was Baylor's leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker (15.1, 9.6, 3.1), had not gotten pregnant at the end of her junior year, she would have been a senior when Griner was a freshman and would have made Baylor a much more difficult team to beat and would have increased their chances greatly against UCONN in the Final Four. They would have been one of the best post tandems seen in a long time.

Also, Latara Darrett was kicked off the team for fighting just before her sophomore year of the 2007-2008 season. Darrett was Baylor's leading three point shooter her freshman year and we all know that three point shooting was a weakness for Baylor in Griner's freshman season. She would have been a well-seasoned senior when Griner was a freshman. She eventually played pro ball in Europe.

Also toss in 6-3 forward Jessika Bradley, who transferred out after her sophomore season and would have also been a senior that season.

Baylor could have been a much tougher team that year had it not been for these three losses. But like I said...ifs are all over the place.

However, we all know that had EDD not transferred out to Delaware that the UCONN streak would probably have gone on for years.

Tonight's performance was an example of my hesitancy to put Hayes on the first team. She just doesn't seem to really have a good night when there is a tight game. She played 37 minutes and had 8 points and 3 rebounds and 7 TOs. This was a perfect opportunity to put the team on her back and carry them to victory.

Not Bria...I have seen her come through before, although she may not have tonight. I just have yet to see it from Hayes. Now, I hope it doesn't come in the Final Four against Baylor.

and you've "watched" every game this season... or are you forming your opinion off boxscores?

I've watched multiple UCONN games but obviously not all. I watch more women's games than one person should be allowed. I've seen enough games in my life to be able to tell from some box scores who had a good game and who didn't. I can tell that if Hayes only took 7 shots that she did not take control of the game like an All American would. All American seniors don't let freshmen take over the game when someone needs to put the team on her back.

Griner had an off game tonight and I will be the first to say that her offense was on the rough side. However, a rough game for her still results in 18 points.

so you're saying she WILL NOT be an All American this season... is that your final answer?

Did anyone else see Tiff kind of push on the back of the St. Johns player to get her out of the way as the team was going over to go through the student section after the game? The St Johns player did not appreciate it. Not a classy move by Tiff at all. Probably mad at herself for not taking the ball to the hoop, but not a classy move at all. If it was another team doing it to us, it would have been all over this site.

I understand Hayes is going to star in a remake of the old Richard Boone's Paladin series " Have Ball Will Travel"

Looking at the play by play for the last 15 minutes of the game, here is where I see Tiff's name. I did not get to see the game and call it what you want, but this is simply not how a first team All American performs when her team needs her to step up.

Now, she may come through in a big way against Notre Dame and this game will be a distant memory.

Just because something is negative, it does not mean that it's not true. Generally, Tiffany Hayes has not played well in big games throughout her career, and last night was another example. Bria Hartley has generally played well in big games throughout her career. Whether it's negative or not, it's reality.

Tiff had an opportunity last night, but did not take advantage of it. I'm giving her some slack, because it was Senior Night. She needs a good game against ND and good play in the BE tourney-- to help her team get big wins and to get herself some recognition.

I too wish her the best MilfordHusky. She has carried the team lately in a few of our games. Realistically though I doubt she'll get the votes required for first team AA.

I saw it... but what do you expect from girls who hang out with foul mouth comedians

and I agree, if it happened to one of "our girls" the T word would have been flung around a time or 2
