in all seriousness, tho, that's not good communication. Tiff has to find out from Caroline, who overheard it, that she wasn't going to start the 2nd half? one of the coaches couldn't spare 5 seconds to let her know they wanted to sit her as a precaution? that seems a little bizarre for a coaching staff that should be more organized. unless i am missing something that went on, i'm not sure why one of the coaches didn't have the courtesy to talk to her.

Just speculating but perhaps the story wasn't told exactly as it happened in order to get to the punchline

Carl Adamec has a bit clearer version. It seems a coach mistakenly told Caroline that she (Caroline) wasn't starting so Tiff began to get ready for the 2nd half. It was then that Geno told Tiff, "Hey, sit down."
