Indiana is no slouch. I think Chicago is better than they showed, but the Sky are an awful matchup for Indiana's guards which cost them the series.
But I didn't expect them to have success vs. the Dream. Having said that, great to see Tiff showing up big time. She played like a star. I don't know if she was injured this year or not, but I was surprised to often check the box score and see she came off the bench. Thomas, Bentley and Herrington don't have near the offensive pop that Tiff does.
Going on the WNBA site for info and stats is a nasty experience, but it's nice to see Tiff's pic listed as no. 1 in their Daily Stats for Scoring category today. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Hayes go in the 2nd round of the draft last year?
She's had a great season.
Thanks! So she was barely out of the first round.Going on the WNBA site for info and stats is a nasty experience, but it's nice to see Tiff's pic listed as no. 1 in their Daily Stats for Scoring category today.
She was picked in the 2nd round of the 2012 draft as the 13th player overall. Of the 13 players, they can be broken out into three groups, with number in draft and 2013 rpg-apg-ppg listed:
1. Not in WNBA: Cain (7), Novosel (8), Dabo (9), Barrett (10)
2. Minor roles in WNBA: Peters (3, 4.6-1.1-4.1), Prahalis (6, 0.7-1.5-1.6), Goodlett (11, 1.6-0.2-1.8), Abdi (12, 0.7-0.5-2.2)
3. WNBA double digit scorers: Ogwumike (1, 7.6-1.3-14.6), Stricklen (2, 2.8-0.8-10.0), Glory Johnson (4, 8.9-1.1-4.1), Shenise Johnson (5, 3.9-2.4-11.0), Hayes (13, 3.7-1.7-11.3)
So of Tiff and her preceding draft mates, she is 4th in average rebounds, 2nd in assists, and 3rd in scoring. She is clearly one of the two best values per selection spot in the draft along with Tulsa's 16th overall pick Riquna Williams, who went 2.4-1.8-15.6 this year.
Thanks - assume there is a typo on Glory Johnson's ppg?Going on the WNBA site for info and stats is a nasty experience, but it's nice to see Tiff's pic listed as no. 1 in their Daily Stats for Scoring category today.

And I think using scoring only for ranking these players may be a little unfair - thinking about Peters specifically. She has had a slow start to her career, but I have been impressed with her work at the end of this season in the little I have seen. She seems to be providing very valuable minutes to the team with the best record in the league with some key buckets and pretty good defense. With Moore, Augustus, and Whalen she isn't going to be expected to score much or take many shots, but she no longer looks lost as she did last year.
But total agree that the run from 7 - 12 were questionable selections when Tiff was still available and #6 never impressed me much either.
