Stewie and Tina on the same team ? Hmm , I think they have a good chance to win the Euroleague title.

Goodluck beating UMMC

In addition to Stewie and Tina, Kursk has assorted other good players such as Epiphanny Prince, Anna Cruz, Marta Xargay, and Sonja Petrovic.

UMMC has Vandersloot, McBride, Alba Torrens, Meesseman, Jonquel Jones, Griner, and Maria Vadeeva.

I'm sure the battles between those two for both the Russian league and Euroleague will be intense.

WATN: Kaili McLaren (UConn '10)

The delay of Tolo's return further complicates the picture surrounding short-term import Kaili McLaren given her contract is set to expire on December 6.

McLaren signed a short-term deal with the Capitals to aid Canberra coach Paul Goriss' chances of covering the loss of one of the competition's premier players.

The United States product has already asked Goriss about the prospect of extending her contract to the end of the season and the pair had planned to discuss their options over dinner.

Now Tolo's setback could pave the way for McLaren to earn an extension should it fit within Canberra's budget as the Capitals firm as a genuine chance to snap a seven-year finals drought.

Here's a highlight video of the UC Capitals v. Melbourne Boomers game played this past weekend. Kia Nurse (#11) is featured making several of the shots but the best is saved for last in the video, as she hits the game winner with 18 seconds remaining,

From what I heard, former UConn/BC player Lauren Engelns German DBBL team Bad Aibling Fireball's. filed for bankruptcy and may have folded, They have only played 8 games while all other teams in the league have completed 11 or 12 games. Engeln has played in Germany since graduating college. Not sure if she will hook up with another team. Also on that team was her Cal Swish teammate Lindsay Sherbert Cal/Gonzaga.

The German League announced that they were withdrawing from the competition a few weeks ago. The games that they did play will not count towards the standings for other teams. Lauren will have lost some of the money that she was owed, but she was having a solid season and she has Italian citizenship so she should land on her feet quickly.

Meanwhile in Iceland, Kelly Faris appears to have already lost more games in a few months than in her entire college career. Other than maybe fouling a bit too often, you cannot blame her as she has been stuffing the stat sheet.

EuroLeague resumes after a short break and you can see all of this week's games from this one link:

Tina Charles had signed a contract through the end of the year with Dynamo Kursk and opted to leave after it expired. She just made her next move, replacing Morgan Tuck in Beijing before the playoffs start in China:

Any more details on Morgan Tuck? Why is she being replaced?

They think that they will need a true post player when it comes down to crunch time in the playoffs. I am not sure that it will be the right strategy as Morgan has been using her advantages to score a lot of points so far.

Some teams that know that they will make the playoffs pre-plan replacing their one foreign player partway through the season. Guangdong, which has the best record so far largely due to great play from their Chinese players, signed Nneka Ogwumike with the knowledge that she would not show up until now, hoping that she will be fresh for the playoffs while having Aerial Powers for most of the regular season to help get them to this point.

The UC Capitals (AUS) are currently in 1st place in the Australian League with Kelsey Griffin (19+ ppg) and Kia Nurse (18+ ppg) leading the team in scoring (they are also 2nd and 5th place in scoring in the league, respectively ) and have earned home field advantage in the playoffs. Griffin was waived by the Sun last year due to injury. I wouldn't mind seeing her join Kia on the Liberty if she chooses to play in the WNBA this year. They seem to work well together. With new ownership on the horizon and perhaps a new venue to play in as well, this could make for an exciting new year.

Welcome back Karlie Samuelson as she has been out the past month with a broken finger. She scored 7 points in a losing effort for Castors Braine

Gabby Williams is without a team after Napoli withdrew from league last week and stopped operation for the year. It's a little unclear what went wrong at this point, but the team had a lot of ambition, signing three WNBA players and a host of solid Italian players in a league where there aren't always three WNBA players in total. Unfortunately, the later this happens in the season, the harder it will be for her to find a new gig and the club is almost certainly well behind on salary payments. These are the perils of playing overseas, although having the WNBA salary as backup is much better than this being your only paying gig as it is for most players who find themselves in this position.

This is a little bit old, but Saniya was the MVP (i. e., player of the week) for week 11 in the Adriatic league.

MVP 11.kola: Saniya Chong

I'm still hoping she'll get a WNBA contract this summer. With Diggins out for the season, the Wings might be in the market for a point guard, although if Cambage goes to Las Vegas, the Aces can easily give one up.

No rest for Gabby. She signed with Uni Girona in Spain and made her debut in the Queen's Cup:
Federación Española de Baloncesto - Competiciones FEB

Does anyone know anything about her French roots and how she qualifies for citizenship or when she acquired it? It would be cool if she and Bria Hartley could play for the national team at the same time, but if they both acquired it late, that would not be possible under current rules. If nothing else, it will help them both pick up bigger paychecks in Europe. Also, it makes me wonder if she could have been a French Olympic-level jumper.

This is the week for cup competition in many countries in Europe. I suppose that I will add any applicable links at the weekend after they are now, but today was the Kiah and Bria show in Turkey after they were out of the lineup in favor of Kia Vaughn and Kelsey Plum in the quarterfinals. They nearly matched the scoring of the other team between them in a semifinal win.
