Kaleena shot .384 from the arc last season, pretty good and second to Tiffany's .407. This year, she has hovered around .500, which is sensational. She jumped ahead of Maggie Lucas and may be leading the nation. I'm not sure that .500 is sustainable for a full season, but I think she can realistically shoot .450. For the reasons noted in the thread, plus an improved follow-through, she is shooting very, very well. When I look at AA candidacy, I examine shooting efficiency. I don't like volume shooters who jack up tons of shots. Tiff was very efficient last year, over .400 from the arc and .500 overall. Kaleena has taken it to a new level. For a player who is not primarily an inside shooter and 6'2" or taller, Kaleena is the best shooter in the country--and she has 2-1/2 seasons to go. Dee's career 3-point record is toast.

The starting upper class guards Faris, Doty, Hartley scored a total of 14 points on 6/16 shooting (2 threes).
Seems not like a typical Geno offense w/o major guard scoring (or am I wrong about that?)
Faris got her boards, there were nine assists, no blocks and steals.
A quiet night for the backcourt.

Wouldn't Muffit, Kim and Tara be thinking, if we stop KML and Big Mama, we win.

Muffit (just stop Diggins and Mcbride)
Kim (just stop Griner and Sims and we win)
Tara (just stop Chiney and...uhhhh)

On top of that, UConn has more answers with Stewart and Hartley (don't underestime her come tourney time).

and this same thought comes to mind frequently when I watch our 3 current freshmen. How much better will they be next year, given Kaleena's current performance?

KML is having a phenomenal year and her efficiency is stunning. What I find equally stunning is Kelly is currently at .528/.431 - %/3pt %. Prior to a couple of off nights from 3 her percentage was at .450 and that is where you are expecting KML to end up. And for all the problems people find with BS she is at .532/341 which of course trails badly behind Stef at .612/400

Does BStew count for you? She could easily put up 10-15 or more, anytime.
 
Not as a Guard.
But with all the talk of her not quite fitting in yet, her season totals are outstanding
 
Michael, while most around here have been looking at positives from last night, you seem to be worrying as usual. Which is your perogative. However, you are sounding like the kid who's glass is not only half empty, it has a crack in it. Let some sunshine in, please!

It was clear since last year that Kaleena wants to be great. She does not have Maya's physical gifts, so she hustles like Kelly, her workout partner. When a supremely talented player is also an exceptionally hard worker, she becomes truly great. The last two players to wear 23 have been just that.

I read this, but did not verify it:

Kaleena does indeed lead the nation in 3-point percentage.

Stefanie leads the nation in overall FG percentage.

Before the start of the season I expressed my view that Kaleena is the best shooter in wcbb. A few guys, armed with stats, publicly disagreed.

Nobody seems to want to argue any more.

I remember arguing about who was a better shooter, KLewis or Spani. No contest now.

Not me, Kib, I was with you all the way. Although on just 3s Machinegun Maggie is pretty tough, too. But she does not have KML's overall game.

Thanks, Nan. I was partly being lazy, but part of the reason is that I'm using my phone mostly. As a result, I get bumped to a mobile site and also have trouble finding things with the small screen. I'll look again when I have iPad or laptop access.
