I'm not sure about that one……he has to turn into a much more controlled player to run the team and create the chemistry necessary……..you notice we can't keep Bazz out long and there's a reason!

Cassell Jr will be our PG next year, just a hunch!

Ok, I will get out just a few thoughts tonight. So let me breakdown a few things:
1) Boatshow needs to understand game situational better. Two key games now he stopped the clock with UConn up with senseless fouls 25 or more feet from the basket. Obviously, from a coaches perspective, you want to keep the clock moving and not give the other team quick unearned come from behind points at the line.
2) Boatshow, quite frankly, needs to avoid getting too deep into the traps, when he has the ball, since at his height and with not the best of court vision ; that's when he gets turnovers. Make the pass before the defense crowds you.
3) Don't leave your feet before you have a decent idea what you plan to do. Again his lack of height might make him more likely to jump first to see where guys are.
4) Get more assists by passing higher to bigs and make the basic pass vs. the no look or French pastry pass as Cousy use to say. Also know your teammates - who to get the ball to and where.
5) I generally like his effort and talent. Needs to make his shooting more consistent and work on before mention mental aspects of the game.

Cassell JR has a reputation of being more of a combo guard. Expecting him to come in his first year and run the team better than a senior Boatright is probably unrealistic.

I don't think you guys are giving Boat much credit. He has came a long way since his freshman year as a distributer and has had some good shot selection throughout the years from the games I've seen. He does a lot of the ball handling when Bazz is running off the ball like Bazz did with Kemba. I imagine when DHam comes in next year he will be that guy coming off the screen that Boat will give the ball too. He (DHam) should be lethal with that next year. I expect Boat to continue to improve and play better when it is all on him as a Senior like Kemba did as a junior.

As far as defensively he might not be the best on ball defender in the half court but I think he does put great pressure on the ball and is disruptive in sticking his hand in their to cause turnovers and get steals. I really don't think you guys are giving Boat enough credit.

From articles I've read, he's been focusing more on the point this season.

I like Boatright and the speed and energy he can bring. I actually met a few members of his family at a game; they are very nice people. Some fans don't understand breaking down some specific areas of someone's game and identifying some things they can improve in. That's a good thing not a bad thing. If he had no talent, quite frankly, I would not bother.

You certainly could be right but it's also unrealistic if you have watched the flow of the offense when Bazz sits to expect Boat can run the team at this point. Actually we could go into next year with a lot of combo's vying for time at the point……...

Like I said earlier; we've been spoiled with back to back POY candidates running the point. Boatright will be fine running the team next year.

I thought Purvis would be next year's PG. Am I missing something because this talk is about Cassell, Boat & Samuel?

assuming Boat is still here next year, Purvis will be the secondary ballhandler next to him.
