The Thunderbird Swap Shop on Sunrise is interesting. Lots of vendors there. It's huge.

If you want great homestyle Cuban food food check out Laura's in Hollywood, FL. The owner, Ariel, lived and worked in Manhattan for years in some of the cities best restaurants and cooks up some amazing food. Tell him your friends from Tahoe sent you.

Go to Dania Jai Alai. I think they just renovated it - has a casino there also.

Remember Bernstein's Hartford Jai Alai?
No. If you want to gamble, go to the Hardrock Hotel and Casino......much much much nicer then Dania Jai Alai and the Hardrock has all the slot machines and table games. It is fully on par with a Vegas casino. It's 10 minutes from airport in Ft. lauderdale

My main point was really Jai Alai. You can gamble at really really nice places in CT. Where else can you watch live Jai Alai in the US and almost the entire world...? Only in Florida.

Have you been to Jai-Alai lately? Bring a party of four and you double the crowd. It's depressing. It's not like the old days.

I was there about a year ago when I had a customer function in Miami and I convinced a dozen of our customers and co-workers to go check it out. Sure, our group of 10 looked like a big crowd - there were about 50 other people there on a weeknight, and sure, it was unusual to see so few people at a venue that seats about 3,000, but I can tell you that everyone in our group had a lot of fun and thought it was a very unique experience. I was sad to see that the sport declined in popularity, but it was far from depressing for us.

I'm going to Florida for a few days soon. I kind of have an idea of what's already there, but if any of you have been in that neck of the woods before, what would you recommend?

So, how was your trip? What did you do in Ft. Lauderdale?

Day 1: Went on a swamp boat tour, went to the Sawgrass Outlet Mall.
Day 2: Church, had Cuban food for lunch, went bowling, swam at the lake.
Day 3: Went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, then went to the beach.
