I'm going to Florida for a few days soon. I kind of have an idea of what's already there, but if any of you have been in that neck of the woods before, what would you recommend?
Things to do in Ft. Lauderdale, in August? Sweat. Dodge the hurricanes. Dodge the bull sharks.
The Button, Elbo Room, Penrods... oh wait, never mind.
Someone told me that at work today.avoid the sink holes...just saying
No sinkholes in South Florida......"Sinkhole Alley" is in Central Florida.avoid the sink holes...just saying

Katie-I live near Ft. Lauderdale. Let me know what you're looking for. The beach would be the number one recommendation. There is a bar on the corner of Las Olas Blvd and A1A called The Elbow Room which is a Ft. Lauderdale institution. There are alot of nice (expensive) restuarants and shops on Las Olas. A fun way to get around and see Ft. lauderdale is to hop on the water taxi which are boats that will take you up and down the intercoastal. The boat trip is narrated and they point out who owns which mansion and which yacht as you motor along. The taxi stops at alot of good bars and restaurants. I think an all day pass is $20. If you want serious shopping and have transportation, go to the Sawgrass Outlet Mall....it is the second largest mall in the US after the Mall of the americas in MN. To get there from downtown, take US 1/Federal Highway South to 595 West and exit at 136 avenue. Out west, not to far from the mall, you can take airboat rides in the everglades. Hope that helps.
