I think @gold2323 did.
Yeah, it was @gold2323.Hubris is the first domino to fall. I don't think I've ever heard Geno predict dominance, repeats or three-peats. That's why he's the best.
I doubt he has ever said, "they will fear us."
Wellll, I’m thinking South Carolina may have a bit of a hangover at least!🤣They certainly have a lot of very highly regarded players so the expectation is they should be really good. Feared though?? I don't know about that. Can Azzi actually lead the team? Will they develop any type of post game? Will they be healthy? I think UConn is potentially a great team and I would pick them to win it all but LSU, ND and SC all will have no fear when playing them.
I was standing on the Capital lawn following a victory parade and Geno guaranteed on NC for the following year. I don't remember the circumstances, but it didn't come to pass.Hubris is the first domino to fall. I don't think I've ever heard Geno predict dominance, repeats or three-peats. The only team our Huskies should fear is UCONN, itself. Respect yes, fear no way. With the talent on this team there is no other team we cannot beat, no other team with more talent. We play to our potential; no other team will be celebrating after the final horn goes off. If yes if we play to our potential, the Huskies will play some great games, some really good games, games that may be average. The worry, the fear that they may stink up the gym on a given night should be the team's only fear. That fear should be nothing more than a tiny thought tucked away in almost no one's mind.Geno wouldn’t say it because it would be counterproductive in a few ways. But we fans can say it, and I suspect most of us on the BY think it.
And while we’re on this topic, is there anyone UConn should fear? This season, the same as last season, UCLA SC and Texas, and maybe Tennessee. This doesn’t mean they aren’t surmountable obstacles. But they are considerable opponents. I suspect we’ll get past all of them but they’d be interesting games if they happen. Next season, I wonder if the main team to worry about out will be USC, what with the return of Juju joining up with Jazzy and Kennedy and whatever transfers Lindsay can cobble together. That’s a Big Three right there.
I'm not convinced that there's ever been a team with as much talent as the pre-injury 2000-2011 team. You guys that have been here from the beginning, have you seen a squad with this much firepower?
Could be, no way to prove it though, what good debates are all about.I'm not convinced that there's ever been a team with as much talent as the pre-injury 2000-2011 team.
Be more specific. I'm just saying firepower. Explosiveness. I'm not sure talent is the same thing. I guess it is. I mean Azzi can score 15 points in 5 minutes. Sarah scores wherever and whenever it's needed. Didn't Ash get like 15-18 in a quarter last year?I'm not convinced that there's ever been a team with as much talent as the pre-injury 2000-2011 team.
Svetlana Abrosimova as a sophomore(?) scored 39 points in a game where she sat a number of minutes and missed about six free throws. As a senior she was competing with Tamika Catchings for player of the year until both got hurt. Do I really have to justify Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Swin Cash?Be more specific. Nice post. Thanks. Who's Diana Taurasi? (just kidding)Svetlana Abrosimova as a sophomore(?) scored 39 points in a game where she sat a number of minutes and missed about six free throws. It was at the Capital ceremony following the 1999-2000 team going 36-1 to win the national championship. They had AP All-Americans Shea and Sveta returning, the TASSK force (Tamika, Asjha, Sue, Swin, and Keirsten) returning, and the #1 HS recruit Dee coming in. Then during the next year both All-Americans went down for the year with injuries and in the national semifinal game the freshman Diana had the worst shooting game of her life as the team lost to Notre Dame. Geno learned his lesson and now says his team will be in the hunt for another NC, but with no guarantees.I was standing on the Capital lawn following a victory parade and Geno guaranteed on NC for the following year.
