Napier has literally looked for Giffey every fast break this year when he's on the floor.dont you hear ollie yelling "5!!!!" for transition treys? I do agree he knows when to shoot, high iq player.

It's a combination of both. Giffey is almost too fundamental. He doesn't take risky shots. Then if he misses a lot of shots, he has a tendency to think he's cold..and his shot is a bad shot. (When you are a 50% three point shooter, no shot is a bad shot.)

But the team doesn't do a good job setting him up. I've watched the team plenty, and Giffey is often wide open and doesn't get the ball. He got the ball last night.

There is this continual stupidity that Giffey can't shoot off the dribble. I bet almost all of his non-layup 2's this year were pull up jumpers off the dribble. His first shot against Rutgers was one.

I think Giffey is the most underutilized player UConn has had since Tony Robertson. In Giffey's case, I think the staff doesn't use him right on either end. He doesn't shoot enough on offense, but on defense he continues to chase the ball around the court. Giffey is a very good man to man defender that should not be helping out nearly as much as he does. That has to be a coaching decision, since I can't imagine any player older than 12 would ever decide to play defense like that on his own.

You mean he hasn't been knocking down a steady string of those catch and shoot 9 footers that are so prevalent in basketball these days? How surprising.

Find me a video of him pulling up off the dribble and shooting a three. If you can I'll be surprised.

What are you babbling about ? You don't like Ollie's defensive philosophy ? The one that has us ranked with a top ten defense in the country?
