and yet, the Whalers moved from Boston, to Hartford, then on to an aircraft hangar in NC, if memory serves
The New England Whalers only moved to Hartford via 1 year in Springfield due to being the 4th Garden tenant (Bruins, Celts, and Braves, the Bruins’ then AHL franchise), failing to attract sufficient attendance (less in last seasons than the struggling Braves), and the opportunity to be priority tenant and attractiveness of a then planned brand new Civic Center.

And yet there is no game without them.
So players and coaches didn't come to UConn because of the field? They have always had full rosters and coaching staffs, IIRC.

Not including the Spanos vacancy year

Weren't we talking about the "convenience" of playing in East Hartford versus Storrs?

(But, no, I very strongly doubt that anyone decides to play at Connecticut because they get to play 30 minutes off campus in an abandoned airfield.)

How high up are you in this pic? Gives me the willies just looking down at those cars - but great view!!!
27th floor ... and those aren't cars, they are our resident cabanas

LOL, Dave, thought that might be a high top shot from the WMC in South Beach. Love the old Sanctuary flyer, but I guess the only thing
Tate was headlining after that was......nah I won't say it...did I ever tell you about my meeting with him that fell apart because he was
"only" short a couple 100K ?

Saw both The Police and Springsteen at The Rent, it's a solid concert venue and hoping the promise of future shows comes to fruition.
Saw The Police there as well, correct me if I'm wrong but I recall the seating there sucks? Metal benches? Apologies if I'm misremembering.

Galt Ocean Mile, so that's where your hiding. Good times, stayed there when I brought a team to SOFL for a Hockey tourney back in the day.
... and this one time, at Maui Invitational Camp in 2010, I bumped in to Blades!

Miss you my brother, Boston 11/15?

1. that's why I typed "could have been"
2. as many as Indianapolis ... building more hotels is an option too, but only executed by visionaries that put actions to dreams, and squash doubters
#2 shows how little you know.

Indianapolis gets Final Fours per contract because the NCAA HQ is in Indianapolis. It’s written in stone. That’s why they built Lucas Oil to also accommodate basketball. That’s why they get them so often!

Hartford was not getting a sweetheart deal like Indianapolis because the NCAA was not going to ditch its brand-new HQ.

Nice to have confirmation of what we all knew, that Rowland and his staff had absolutely no idea how the sports industry works.
