The New England Whalers only moved to Hartford via 1 year in Springfield due to being the 4th Garden tenant (Bruins, Celts, and Braves, the Bruins’ then AHL franchise), failing to attract sufficient attendance (less in last seasons than the struggling Braves), and the opportunity to be priority tenant and attractiveness of a then planned brand new Civic Center.and yet, the Whalers moved from Boston, to Hartford, then on to an aircraft hangar in NC, if memory serves
So players and coaches didn't come to UConn because of the field? They have always had full rosters and coaching staffs, IIRC.And yet there is no game without them.
