I will take the money, but how does this small bank even afford this sponsorship?

3.5 billion in assets.I will take the money, but how does this small bank even afford this sponsorship?
I think you are sort of right. It was a long time ago but I believe the “Civic Center” was the whole complex. Arena, shopping area, restaurants, exhibition space, parking garage, maybe even the hotel. The whole enchilada so to speak. The Veterans Memorial Coliseum was the arena like Lutkins LTD was the Dept store and Reins deli was the deli in the lower level. But from the beginning everyone referred to the arena as the civic center, except Arnold Dean I think. He would refer to games at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. At least I think he was the one.Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the arena bowl still technically called the Veterans Memorial Coliseum? At least that's what the signage says when you enter it at the main entrance
Our big East “contemporaries” as you call them, wish they could have gotten a fraction of the national championships UConn has won. So there’s that.I'm a little sad we couldn't have gotten one of our major Fortune 500 companies to back the name to match our Big East contemporaries
PeoplesChampion would have been a much cooler name...
Why? Who GAS? And Peoples Bank Arena sounds (and looks) better than Fiserv Forum.I'm a little sad we couldn't have gotten one of our major Fortune 500 companies to back the name to match our Big East contemporaries
That’s peanuts for a bank. Webster Bank a local /regional bank has $80 Billion in comparison3.5 billion in assets.
So you're saying there's room for growth? With proper marketing and community investment, perhaps? That’s peanuts for a bank. Webster Bank a local /regional bank has $80 Billion in comparison
Yes, plenty of room for growth. Perhaps, you and I could start a UConn sponsor bank - then there really would be even more room for growth, if that’s the top selection criteria / LOLSo you're saying there's room for growth? With proper marketing and community investment, perhaps?
Who should the sponsor be, Chief?Yes, plenty of room for growth. Perhaps, you and I could start a UConn sponsor bank - then there really would be even more room for growth, if that’s the top selection criteria / LOL
Same reason Charles Schwab sponsors the College World Series ballpark in Omaha. Omaha being the home of the Ricketts family, aka Ameritrade.Because they were willing to pay the most.![]()
After Schwab acquired TD Ameritrade in 2020, they just assumed Ameritrade’s Omaha’s stadium naming rights. Potentially, SCHW shells out the most when the newly christened Charles Schwab Field’s naming rights come up for bid.Same reason Charles Schwab sponsors the College World Series ballpark in Omaha. Yes, but 20 million (over 10 years) is peanuts for for 3+ billion dollar bank. Peanuts is relative. That’s peanuts for a bank. Webster Bank a local /regional bank has $80 Billion in comparison
