I'm surprised so many people care so much about the Veterans Memorial Colosseum. I couldn't care less. My friends and I just call it the Civic Center anyway.
I am shocked and deeply disappointed by your reckless disregard of the facility's proper name.

Even when it was the Hartford Civic Center the arena was named "Veterans Memorial Colosseum"
Wasn't that New Haven?
After the New Haven Arena there was the New Haven Veterans Memorial Coliseum but the original name up north was the Hartford Civic Center Veterans Memorial Coliseum and Exhibit Center.

What a mouthful. The HCCVMCEC.

It's fine, it'll grow on us once there's some great games there. It's a middle-of-the-road bank, not some business with a dumb name or, God forbid, a crypto company.

"The Peep was wild last night!"

"Man, Solo's dunk made the Peep go insane..."

"Azzi couldn't miss at the Peep last night."

Just embrace it if you want, it's still the Civic Center to a lot of people.

The Peep? Umm, no. Too big of an opportunity for sophomorish genitalia jokes.

I did not know that

That's what makes it work. No one is calling it The Bank, not unique enough.
Hmm, seeing the potential for a "bank shot at the Bank" commentary call. Not liking it.

I can just see the half court shot for $500 promotion. I think anyone who makes a half court shot should get a decent payout something like 10,000 dollars

Few things aggravate my OCD gene like re-named buildings. I envy those of you who will move forward with your lives unperturbed and not wince every single time it's mentioned (and yes, I know this isn't the building's first name change).

I still call it the HCC, probably always will

Welcome to The Bank!!

The People Don’t Get Forever Seats Center
Forever isn’t forever I guess. T-Mobile took away my forever locked fixed price phone contract and raised the price. “And the price will never go up”.

.-.
PeoplesBank may have the arena but Athletics used to have 3 other banks that sponsored FB, MBB and WBB - Wells Fargo, Key Bank and ??.

Imagine that, a small 20 branch mutual bank expanding in to CT markedly motivated to spread its name versus Fortune 500, publicly traded insurers with massive market exposure, many CT tax paying employees, insured residents, etc. Crazy! /s

It does say a lot about how the larger companies in Connecticut view the value of associating with the Civic Center, and to a certain extent, UConn's brand.

I didn’t do that. I wrote “name of the building”. A moderator was making a joke I guess.

Ah, the old blame the moderator line. You, sir, are shameless.
I swear. I don't think I've ever called it the Veterans Memorial Coliseum once in my entire life. But at least I do know how to spell coliseum. Lol

Btw, did you know that Portland, Oregon has a Veterans Memorial Coliseum? Well now you do. :)

So does Jacksonville, Florida.

Not to be confused with the People's Bank that became People's United Bank with a big headquarters in Bridgeport that was then bought by M&T Bank.

In other words, whatever.
I actually thought that was the bank taking sponsorship. But I haven't lived in NE since 2002.

The 'Civic Center' named is no ingrained for locals so they must deem it not a big enough ROI.

I honestly hadn't heard anyone that goes to games call it the "civic center" for a long time. It's been the XL for years.
