The same people who get upset because Jim Mora is not a junior will note that it's not People's Bank. No apostrophe - it's actually PeoplesBank.

Few things aggravate my OCD gene like re-named buildings. I envy those of you who will move forward with your lives unperturbed and not wince every single time it's mentioned (and yes, I know this isn't the building's first name change).

"Peoples Bank? Sounds like a communist Chinese company. Damn Commies are taking over everything!"

Great. Love that they want to be part of the city and state.

A $20 million deal, the naming rights are effective immediately. OVG is parent company to Pollstar. The 10-year partnership was executed by OVG Global Partnerships, the sponsorship and naming rights division of Oak View Group.

Dunkin is a Mass business that has both the minor league park in Hartford and was the name in Providence forever. So funny to listen to people question the business like XL Insurance was a household name at any point in time until it was the name of the arena.

"The newly renamed PeoplesBank Arena is home of the American Hockey League’s Hartford Wolf Pack, affiliate of the New York Rangers, 12-time National Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team, and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team, UConn Men’s Ice Hockey, premier global concerts, and entertainment events."

It is the home of UConn sports? Who knew.

I have no problem with this. Any company willing to invest in the state of Connecticut and put their money where their mouth is should be appreciated. I’m sure if they rebuild or do a major overhaul of the building to make it a premier arena in the northeast, companies like Travelers will step up. Right now, this is a perfectly acceptable result.

Honestly, I wish we got Dunkin’ Donuts as a sponsor a long time ago and we got to call it The Dunk like PC did. Dunkin would have maintained the relationship because UConn playing at The Dunk would have been a nationally known thing. The greatness of the concept got wasted on PC.

Part time home where no one wants to go but you have to visit dad at the trailer park a few times a year

I applaud Peoples Bank of SW Mass and I hope all CT based businesses take note at how ridiculous it makes them look. $20 mill? a bargain these days.

Not sure If this even matters, but I figured with the big renovations that are going on, It would at least attract a bigger name sponsor.

Someone should change the subject title. Might as well get used to the new name and give PeoplesBank the recognition for their $20 million investment.

I'm surprised so many people care so much about the name. I couldn't care less. My friends and I just call it the Civic Center anyway.
