He also got absolutely destroyed by Edey twice. Barely scored (2 and 6 points) and fouled out both times (19 minutes and 26 minutes). I know that most centers did the same against Edey, but it's just shows how lucky we were to have had Clingan.

I'd prefer Cliff O or Aidoo from TN myself.
Aidoo against Edey
5 points (1/3), 1 reb, 5 fouls, 13 min.
0 points (0/4), 2 reb, 3 fouls, 10 min

Big cliff had 1 bad game and 1 okay game.

um yes. lol. Who would be an upgrade?

and "he's not good on offense" is based on you just reading his season stats i'm guessing? Watch some tape, he's Karl malone ish (who he bases his game on, as well as why he wears #32 )... Gotta have a scouts eye and see this big body setting screens and rolling to hoop, protecting the rim. For two years. Quick twitch for guy his size. Its why I said earlier in thread id prefer him to Cliff. Despite the analytics. Just the eye test.

Fair enough.

Here's Cliff O's numbers in two games:

13 points (5/10), 6 reb, 3 fouls, 30 minutes
4 points (2/7), 3 reb, 3 fouls, 24 minutes

Cliff O had the better numbers of the three. Interesting that he was able to not foul out both times (not even get four fouls even).

That’s first thing that jumped out def quick twitch for that size. Intriguing. Was on a dumpster fire team and still diving for loose balls like to see that!!!

He didn’t score at a high volume. 19.7 points per 100 possessions which is about Diarra’s pace. And he wasn’t efficient because of his turnovers. So he’s not good on offense, he’s a downgrade on the boards from Clingan, and defensively although he’s better than Samson (roughly equal in block percentage), he’s still nowhere near even Sanogo’s level of defense. He looks like an average starter to me barring a big leap forward, which I could see happening with this staff, but still I’d much prefer to go out and get a transfer that is already really good.
You're comparing his stats on a Michigan team that was very very bad to Samson and Clingnan in our offense which is light years ahead of most of the country. How would Samson be in Michigan's offense?

His skill set would fit perfect for our offense and then hit them with Samson. If Hurley likes them over other centers, I'm sold.

In my opinion we are looking for another PG-ish type player. Not sure who between ANowell and Hass is gonna handle these duties, I'm guessing it'll be Hass. But another ball handler would be nice.
A big. We love SJ and he's great at what he does well. We don't play a big 40 minutes/game so someone to combine with SJ and Singare and fill that defensive void down low.
Another shooter. Solo, AK (?), J Stew and Hass will focus on their shooting if they all stay but I'm assuming we're looking for another specialist.

My final wish: we just happened to have non-trad bigs who can rebound beyond their position: Newt, Cam and Steph were all such great rebounders and I'd love to not see that stat drop off.

Don't know enough about Ibrahim and Ross yet to see how they will fit in. Maybe Roumoglou, if he stays, gets to take some shots off the bench.

What yall think?

We need a bulky 4/5. Johnson has matchups that suit his skillset, but others that don't. Having a more physical big off the bench would be an asset.

While the sample size is small, Roumoglou seems a far better shooter than Ross at this point. My hope is that he sticks around, spends the summer honing his D, and comes back an impact guy.

As much as I love analyzing the “against Edey” numbers for all these guys none of them will have to play against anyone remotely like him in a college uniform
Also, you can’t just look at the box score. If so, they would assume Donovan gave up 37 and was largely ineffective.

Probably spoiled by Clingan and SJ this year, but would prefer a more athletic above the rim big that can be a lob threat.

Made our offense so dangerous when if you sleep for a second on the bigs it’s an immediate ally oop that you can’t recover from.

No to another pg, hass is totally proven and Nowell is a dawg as well - he’ll play a lot like Kemba did in ‘09.

need the 2/3s we add to be ball handlers/high iq like Cam was. Like 2 of them, one starter and bench Joey California type.

Give me a big like Reed, high upside and beefy. Complements Slamson well.

I would love for Hass to start. He just seems like such a career 6th man, and I mean that in the best way possible.

but if Hass is our 2nd string PG then that means Nowell is 3rd string and that's not gonna happen

we need a starting Wing and a Center
