I hate this guy, with a passion. Such a nerd and a Dukie nerd at that. Guy has not said one good thing about UConn ever. Here is his pick on the game tomorrow:

Cuse 70 UConn 62

I almost wish Syracuse was playing a better team on the road, because I'm itching to pick an upset. As it stands, UConn is in no position to pull this one off. Besides being without their leader, Jim Calhoun, the Huskies simply don't have the patience and maturity to solve the Orange's 2-3 zone. Yes, UConn pulled off a badly-needed overtime win at Villanova on Monday night, but that came against a bad team that was missing two injured starters, including leading scorer Maalik Wayns. Syracuse is much better than Villanova, and it's playing at full strength.

Looking at those comments in a vacuum its hard to argue with that assessment. Everything he says is true except, hopefully, that we can't win.

He's not wrong on a lot of it. One could argue the score line he predicts is actually quite nice to UConn after what happened in the Dome. Of course, if he actually watched the game in the Dome, he would have seen a pretty darn close game for 35 minutes. I am hoping the crowd gives the team some energy to push this for a full 40 and UConn sneaks out with a win, or Cuse doesn't shoot 60%+ from the field and shoots closer to what they have for the past 3-4 games.

He lives in my town. I'm always hoping to run into him at a store so I can tell him what a dook homer/UCONN hater he is.

Mr Davis, in the words of the immortal Fred Gwynne, "That is a lucid, intelligent, well thought-out objection.....Overruled."

Terrific movie. One of my favorites.

I don't pick upsets much but UConn is going to win. They need it more and they match up. Watch for the UConn big men to have a big night.

UConn's biggest challenge is not Syracuse's zone. The challenge is playing better defense against Syracuse. If he actually watched the last game he would realize UConn played well against Syracuse's zone. Syracuse shot lights out. Boatright is going to have to play much better defense and Roscoe should play Fair when he is in the game because Fair lit up Olander.

Well, with all "the Youts" on UConn's roster, this game should go down to the wire.;)

I really don't see anything wrong with what he wrote. What can you legitimately argue with him about?

Also, he picked UConn to beat Marquette at home in the upset last weekend, and we saw how that went. Maybe the whole "reverse mojo" type of thing will work again.

I think ROscoe is just showing being recovered, seems he's been ailing a lot of the season. I agree, we neeed him badly.

So if you dislike Davis so much, why give him the click to his piece? Why bring it up?

I agree. It doesn't diminish his d-bagginess but it's impossible to argue his points. UConn barely beat a Nova team (that was struggling anyway) without two of its starters after getting beaten at home by Marquette.

The fact he has it within a 10-point game is actually more surprising, imo.

my problem with seth davis is that his words are written and spoken without a hint of analysis underlying them. his opinions are the most predictable kind of conventional wisdom - I could download software that would do his job better.

I think the man has picked Gonzaga to reach the FF 5 or 25 times, nuff said

Sadly, this is true for a lot of non-sports journalism too. That's why I stopped reading magazines like Time and Newsweek. Newsweek even had a section called "The Conventional Wisdom Meter" or some Shot like that.

he is a , but he is not proving it here. just b/c someone says something anti-uconn, it does not immediately recall status as does any pro-uconn sentiment denote a great analyst. a few years ago gottleib wrote an incredibly pro JC article and this board blew up with what a great, honest analyst he is and how he is so respected. this year (and other times) he has been critical of us and the board explodes with how jaded/jealous he is, how he has an agenda, and that he is a . can't have it both ways.

Exactly.

Agreed boog....we need to pick better clips from Seth to cover the doughbag theory, we know he is but this one has him correct in all phases!!
