No one else has more than two!Come on Nan, ask a hard question.
The best player for the past 30 years, really? Dang, in addition to all of UConn's First Team All-Americans, I didn't realize the Huskies also had Griner, Wilson, Holdsclaw, Parker, Boston, Clark, Ionescu, Augustus, etc.A follow up question would be which team has had the most #1 rated recruits? Of the players that were taken #1 overall what was their HS recruiting rank? UConn has had the best player for the past 30 years so I am not surprised by this stat, in fact I was thinking it might even be more.
I respectfully disagree. Plenty of No. 1 recruits have gone elsewhere in the last 30 years, it just seems like they all go to UConn. A simple ESPN or google search will reveal how many No. 1 recruits either were not recruited by UConn or chose another school to attend.A follow up question would be which team has had the most #1 rated recruits? The first that comes to mind is Stevie, Mo Jeff, and Morgan Tuck as 1-2-3 in 2016. If South Carolina did it, I don't remember that.I think you have to count a little differently. If the top two (or even three!) picks are from the same school, they should all be counted, because that school had more than one player chosen before any player from any other school. This, of course, gives UConn an even higher total!
UConn gets more No. 1 players than other programs. Not every player, but enough to notice that y'all do. I can go back to 2010 in my head. 2011- KML, 2012-Stewie, 2015- KLS, 2017- Megan Walker, 2018- CW, 2020- Paige, 2021- Azzi, and 2024- Sarah. I know Maya and Tina were the number top rated players in their class too and then y'all also got EDD for a 3rd No. 1 in a row (obviously she transferred). I know people try to make it a knock to UConn that y'all get the top players. I dont think it's a bad thing. You have to have an amazing program for so many great players to want to join.I respectfully disagree.
