Two FF's and a title in three years. But trash everyone and tell them to get out. SMH.

This team is a testimony to Kemba. Last year would have been the same or worse without him. This year is proof of that. I really like winning; and, no, we have no right to expect to win everything all of the time. I would guess that most fans are disappointed because, very often(and rebounding stats are a glaring example as was Jeremy's frequent disappearing act), the effort and desire just didn't seem to be there right from the opening tip.

I actually find all this talk about him and Andre being lottery pick rather nauseating. Any GM who drafts them is nuts. One is 3-4 years, at minimum, away from being a contributor; and the other, because of his personality and disposition, can be defended completely out of games with little or no effort at all. The best thing this team could do(NCAA sanctions aside) is to stay together and come back. Show the fans they've got the same backbone as their coach. I agree that this group is extremely likable; but I'm sure they would prefer to be remembered by the fans for more than that.
When I think of last year's Big East and National Championships I don't see them as real "team" wins as I would with so many other teams in the history of this great program. This season certainly underscored that.

not sure what a fake fan is... It's only natural that some people are a--holes. That doesn't change when you are on a chat board.
I don't think personal attacks are necessary, nor does questioning one's character after a tough loss become a right. But certainly, commenting on the teams demeanor, the coaches decisions, or the level of effort exhibited are and should be open for discussion.
It's a double-edge sword. You want to play in front of a crowd, and you want to play for a team that has a following. That's Uconn. That comes with expectations and preasure worthy of the best bb program in college. If you want to play for an empty gymnasium and not be part of the discussion play for BC.

I don't know if UNC or Kentucky debates whether they're blue-blood programs or not. I'm not sure why it's a debate on this board whether Uconn is.
We've won 3 National Championships since 1999 and continue to supply the NBA with superstars.
One NC could be considered a fluke. Twice is harder to ignore. But 3 NC's means we've arrived as one of the top programs. Maybe we as fans won't appreciate this because we're still in the middle of Calhoun's run. But look at some other program's history. They look back at one Sweet 16 or Final 4's appearance like the ultimate culimination of a programs success.
We have 3 National Championships!!! And we won the NC last year, not 30 years ago. And we have the nuclues to put together another deep run in the next year or two.

Ucon isn't Duke UNC UK or KU in my opinion. Maybe we will get there some day. There is a major difference in recruiting with those programs. We get great kids and JC usually maximizes there potential but if you look on a list of most McDonald's All Americans you will find those 4 at the top and UConn nowhere near it.

We had a young team that couldn't figure "it" out this year. That does not mean next year they won't be right back to the level of those 4 teams you mentioned but for us to expect to a "blue blood" we have more work to be done.

Not to pick nits, but it might actually surprise you that Kansas has no McDonald's All-Americans on their roster this year. The team Kansas will be facing in the first round (and I refuse to call this the second round) has one.

If we're truly a blue blood, two years out of 3 without NCAAT wins, even if they come after a Final Four and sandwiched around a championship, is not good enough.

If we don't have these expectations, we're no better than Cincy or Texas.

That said, some of these posts have been ridiculous.

This is one of the most illogical posts I've ever seen on this board. Of course this season wasn't good enough considering the talent level of this team, but to mention UConn in the same sentence as Cincy and Texas is just senseless. I understand you're only talking about expectations, but if you are unwilling to accept the disappointing seasons with the great ones, maybe your expectations are out of touch.

My point was this:

If we consider ourselves fans of a blue blood program, our expectations should be higher than to be content with a 9-seed and a 1st-round exit.

If our expectations are such that we're content with a season like this, then our expectations are no different than those of fans from any other middle-of-the-road major conference team.

That's all I'm saying. If we're really a blue blood on par with the Dukes and Kentuckys of the world, then it's expected that our fan base should be upset about the season we've had.

Agree w/zls on this one. There is no doubt that this year was incredibly frustrating, but frustrating seasons happen. 2009 was great. 2010 was perhaps even more frustrating. 2011 was the most incredible March ride we will ever have as UConn fans. 2012 was perhaps the biggest let down.

No one is happy that they lost, but you can't always win and frankly if there is one lesson that UConn fans should have learned by now it is that the season after a national title is bound to be a disappointing one. I'll take the past 13 years, and so would every single school in the country.

The expectation is to play hard and up to your potential. Results being what they will be.

This team had a ton of basketball skills but not a lot of skill at playing basketball.

Last year was a fluke but so was 2010, UConn and JC have almost always done better with upperclassmen leading the way. This is why I feel somewhat OK about the next two years. A lot of the sophs will be here as seniors and (if 2013 ineligible) they will be fired up for a NCAAT run in 2014.

Kemba pulled last years team along for a ride, but that should have been an NIT or first round loss team, this year a growth year and next year a title contending team.

I believe 4 years which contain a FF and a NC are excellent.

I also believe that 4 years which contain the two years we've had in 2010 and 2012 do not befit a "blue blood". The question I ask is: how would Duke, UNC, Kentucky, or Kansas react?
How did UNC fans react when they followed up a national title with a trip to the NIT?

Grow up. We got picked off in the first round of the tournament for the second time since JC took over the program.

Tell me, in whatever field that you have chosen can you seriously claim to be close to as accomplished as these kids are (nearly all under 21 no less)?

You want to compare us with Duke, UNC, Kentucky & Kansas. Have you seen how well those fan bases travel? What have you done over the years to help our travelling fan base compete with those schools?

B!tch!ng about this past season is and claiming that it is something a blue blood should b!tch about is assinine.
