I'm terrible at picking winners.

Scottie is the favorite, Rory is the sentimental favorite, but I'm going Xander for a repeat!

Toughest major to predict, imo. I’d take Hovland or Fleetwood if I had a choice but in my one and done pool I’m going with Hatton.

Weather: Forecasts are for showers likely every day....and mild winds every day. Unusual. for The Open...doesn't look like anything severe...showers may well soften some of the hard/crazy bounces you often get over there.

Rory to win.

Not a fan of high ball hitters this week, except for Rahm.

I like Rahm.

I'd say Lowry, but he's been playing like crap lately. Fleetwood is demoralized, so counting him out. Would be sweet if it came down to Rory vs Scottie, but I'm gonna go with Fitzpartick this week. But I do like the Hatton pick.

Threw a buck or 2 on hovland and Aberg but I’m positive (because I did) they won’t win

Rory or Scottie. But I actually think we'll see somebody unexpected be there on Sunday. No idea who that would be.

I got Trey Wingo moaning about today's generation while housing pints of Guinness on Peacock.

And this is why The Open is the best tournament.

If today was representative of the next 3 days, it will play havoc with all of the players. It was totally unpredictable today, and I thought they mentioned they’re likely to feel wind from every compass direction, and rain too. The winner will get the best weather breaks.

The weather in Day 1 was much more bothersome than had been predicted...makes for fun viewing if
not fun for the players.

Talk about the weather on Friday,,,,sun on parts of the course....heavy rain simultaneously
on another part. Wind has been milder than Thursday...nicer temps. Low...LOW... scoring
among the leaders...9 under leads as I type but many are close-by...including Sheffler.
I'm guessing the members are not happy with the scores...will have fingers crossed
for heavy winds on the weekend. Sheffler finding fairways...so far....and iron play is excellent.

My boy Fitz is doing well. Don't know if he'll keep Scottie at bay over the weekend, but it looks like they'll be paired in the final group so we'll see about Fitzpatrick's nerves.

Fitz won the U.S. Open at The Country Club a couple of year ago...he is legit....and will
be the fan favorite Saturday. Sheffler played a great round Friday....drive/iron play/even
putting which can go haywire for him at times. Scores are unusually low but page one on the
leader board looks very good. I would think Fitz wouldn't be feeling too much pressure...just feed
the fan rooting....relax...and keep doing what he is doing. Fun tourney so far.

Looks like nice weather at the moment. Sunny skies and golfers in short sleeves. Scottie just made nice recovery out of heavy rough and nice putt on 11. Rory had a very nice chip from a ledge below the 16th green. Scottie still up by 3 over Fitzpatrick and Rory is 5 off the lead.

Scottie: one eagle...2 birdies...no bogeys....67...4 shot lead.

3 putts for a par on oar 5 number 2. Missed several makeable birdie putts but made quite a few
of testy-type par putts. He is at 14 under...10 under is second...9 under third...bunch at 8 under....
including Rory who had excellent 66. Don't know what Sunday's weather is supposed to be...a great round
from somebody and help from Scottie needed for suspense on Sunday back nine.

Just checked the forecast...mostly cloudy....mild winds...perhaps a shower. Saturday was just gorgeous...lots of low
scores.

Sheffler will be tough to beat. He doesn't seem to make critical mistakes. Rory is probably too far back to catch Scottie. Not sure if Li has ever been in this pressure situation before at 4 back.

Scottie shoots a 69 tomorrow and no one can catch him. And everyone in the field knows it.

All Scottie has to do is play par golf. Like Tiger did in his prime. I'm more interested in seeing who smiles more. Scottie or Li- Who went off Tour for a few years to pursue being a Monk to honor his parents. Fascinating stuff.

Pro golf is very interesting. If you play conservative and just try for pars you can get hesitant amd make bogey.

But, if you know you have to shoot 64-65, you habe to always be aggressive which can also bite you in the ass.

Scottie hit 2 or 3 fairways in round 1 and shot 69. These greens aren't difficult- slow and relatively flat. Just get the ball on tje green in regulation.

If he is hitting fairways tomorrow, it will make for boring TV.
