The Official Thread of The New York Yankees - 2023

On the positive side...we learn that Rodon has chronic back issues. Great to hear in the first year of his six year deal.

Cash proving he’s worth the new contract yet again. lol

How is Aaron Hicks still on the Yankees? Dude is the worst player in baseball. What a joke the Yankees have become. Glad I don't care about the team anymore.

Obviously it's still early...but it's interesting to read Buster Olney talk about the Yankees may be sellers this year at the trade deadline. Specifically...Severino may be available.

Big win tonight!!!

I am still laughing at the Ray's pulling Josh Lowe in the 9th. Stupid move with no gut instinct.

Why. He retired, no? :confused::confused:

And we got Sox fans thrilled with their start. Sad what John Henry has done.

Nice taking three out of four from Toronto this week, in what was as chirpy a series as I can remember. Aaron Judge looked like the MVP again and even Aaron Hicks had a clutch two-out RBI hit in last night's game. Maybe most importantly, Nestor Cortes looked much more like Nasty Nestor last night after two or three sub-par outings. I had been fearful that the league might have caught up to him, but he did a good job shutting down the Blue Jays. Severino comes back this weekend, which should give the rotation a nice boost.

Team looks way more watchable with Bader back then Judge coming off the DL. Huge series win, maybe Boone should start getting ejected more.

Still need to see a larger sample size to see if this team is a legit contender will see by mid June or July. I would love Cashman to make me eat a plate of crow. Let’s see how this team does off an emotional series can they ride this momentum.

Woah, Aaron Hicks was designated for assignment today.

Honestly, this happened earlier than I expected, but it's the right move.

In his place, former Yankee Greg Allen was reacquired by the Yankees from the Red Sox. When I remember him back when he played in 2021, he was a defense/speed guy and the Yankees newly found commitment to base running has made this team more fun to watch.

Can't say I'm sorry to see Hicks leave as it's been painfully obvious that he wasn't going to snap out of it any time soon. He may be a guy that can revive a career outside of the NYC cauldron. He always seemed to try hard and his teammates seemed to like him, so I'll choose to remember his for his positive moments, including this one.

What an arm.

.-.
Great arm, it’s about damn time. It took way too long because Cash didn’t want to admit it was an awful contract, kept hoping he’d prove him right. Like you guys said I’m sure nice enough guy but please go chase your golf dream you’re a dreadful baseball player!

This game and this play was maybe the highlight of Hicks’s Yankee career. It was a big game in the pennant race and a crazy game with Hicks hitting a game tying hr in the 9th and this catch had it been the last out in the WS, gone down in baseball history. It was the last out in extra innings with NY up by 2, bases loaded with 2 outs and the Twins were a team NY was fighting for a plsyoff spot. He doesn’t catch this it is a bases clearing double and NY loses. He went on to become a pretty useless hitter.

You didn't need to add "pretty" to useless hitter, he was useless. And that may have been his last good play in the field as well, he became a less than average OFer as the years moved on as well. He had one decent year and Cashman fell hook, line and sinker!

Now, now. He had a 3 hit game last week that no doubt upped his value in Japan or Cincinnati.

I do think he never fully recovered from his injuries. He did have respect from his teammates...so it wasn't an effort thing.

But...he was brutal the last couple years. He needed to go.

.-.
Hicks was a very good steal of a trade but a very very dumb contract extension at 7 years no less it was stupid in hindsight, who would ever give Hicks 7 years you only give star players 7 years. I don’t give Cashman any credit for DFA Hicks.

I read that Aaron Hicks just got picked up by Baltimore. It will be interesting to see if a change of scenery makes a difference. He looks like a guy whose confidence meter is pegged at 0%. He had become a liability at the plate and in the field.

So, if the Yankees are all about winning Championships...Cash needs to be called to the carpet.

Alas, he has the family wrapped around his finger.

They ended last season not able to hit. They entered this season with questions about hitting. Cashman did nothing. And now they aren't hitting. Shocking.

Hoping Donaldson would hit again isn't a strategy. Hoping Stanton and Bader would stay injury free isn't a strategy. The lineup is embarrassing.

This is all on cashman.

Cash made sure he got signed first. Then signed Judge. This all happened when the big FAs were scooped up.

Their never gonna be healthy, Cashman has built a roster of injury prone players, which he has always done even if fully healthy they would just be 1 and done anyways.

They only care about ticket sales, which leads me to believe there’s a reason the Yankees have been mum on Judges injury, thinking he will be out for a while. Yankees are very slick with their propaganda think the majority of fans have caught on by now.

Why would anyone spend 1,000 for a day at the stadium with their family to watch this team even with Judge healthy. Best thing fans can do is boycott don’t attend games and don’t watch them on the Yes network.

That’s the only possible way I see change being made. It’s time for Hal to sell the team.

.-.
Broken record. Same ol’. Hasn’t changed in a long long time just keep signing and resigning has beens. Keep throwing Torres out there with his continued lackadaisical defense and overrated offense rather than trading him for something. Now they bring up a kid for SS hoping for the next Jeter but for now they have the next Stick Michael.

This not even a watchable baseball team, it’s painful. And again, even with 90-100 wins in the past you knew they couldn’t win it all. Now they’re lucky to win 80 with this staff and lineup of hitters. Any GM depending on Hicks and Cabrera to be in the OF along with Bader playing a full season is an absolute joke. Well here we are again, only worst!

What everyone else said…but with less tradeable assets compared to the last deadline they were sellers.

As fans, we’re handcuffed…just root for this AAAA roster and see what happens…

And you added an “A” why??

Lol

It’s not even like this team is 3-4 moves away from being good. They need a complete over haul, and philosophical changes. It won’t change with Cashman, injuries will be used as an excuse.

The minor league system has been fantastically unproductive. The problem with injuries is that they have no one in the minors to plug their holes. Who was the last outfielder that came through their system and made an impact not named Judge?

Its a team with a couple stars.... Judge and Cole....a bunch of has beens...and a bunch of journeymen.

With a crappy minor league system and bloated contracts....I don't see how they get out of this hole.

Here I am kinda hoping the Yanks can help get rid of Chaim and they go all 2004 on us.
