You're doing it en masse so perhaps you are technically correct on not blasting any individual.
Perhaps I'm misinterpreting your posts but it appears that your view is that Edsall and only Edsall was capable of finding kids who could in time outperform their recruiting rankings.
I just believe that it is a more intelligent approach if you were to wait until the kids actually get on the field before declaring how good of a recruit he is. It may be a frivolous way of doing things but having seen informed pundits claim the Cubs got fleeced when they traded Ivan Dejesus to the Phillies for an aging Larry Bowa (and a minor leaguer named Ryne Sandberg) or that the Tigers got a steal when they acquired Doyle Alexander for two minor leaguers (one of whom was John Smoltz) I've realized waiting for results before declaring victory works better.
Yes - you are correct I'm not being critical of any individual player.
I'm being critical of the coaching staff for not winning more recruiting battles, it has nothing to do with any individual player.
I think trying to replicate what Edsall did is foolish. His skill to find those players is extremely rare. Like I outlined things are different now. I think it's extremely unlikely there is a coach who can win the AAC at UConn by recruiting players so far under the radar that their offers are MAC and FCS.
You can wait until 2020 to comment on a class if you think that is more intelligent. You aren't required to engage in conversations about recruiting in real time.
You can wait as long as you like to declare defeat on Diaco. It may not be intelligent but I don't feel as though I need to pull back on that declaration.
It's a total and complete rejection of Bob Diaco in the recruiting world. If that reality hurts the feelings of some posters because they think it insults commits - 1000 apologies.
This isn't a pop warner outfit (in theory). It's FBS - there is going to be criticism.
It's amazing to me so many have claimed that the Big 10, ACC and Big 12 are so mistaken to have not included UConn.... yet so many get upset when some people have expectations that UConn wins some recruiting battles and doesn't field perhaps the worst team in FBS over the final quarter of the season.
