I would like to know from one of our SC posters, what the consensus is from SC fans on the prospect of having UConn in their NCAA bracket.

UConn will be in Bridgeport and the committee will do everything to have Iowa in SC's region.

Louisville was ahead after 1 period 31-3 against Notre Dame, in South Bend. That game was over before halftime. Talk about getting crunched!
With 2.5 minutes left in the half, the score was 48-6. A 17-3 run after the debacle of the first qtr, a double debacle. Maybe the worst half of basketball ever played by a ranked team, and at home!

The assignments are not final.
But even if UConn's assignment remains the same, UConn was fortunate that the earlier SC rematch was cancelled which gave Paige time to rehab. so that she could play.
Beating SC needs to be done whether it's a game earlier or a game later.
Meanwhile, there's other teams that are going to be eliminating each other in Bridgeport that we won't need to beat because we will be focused on playing SC.
If UConn takes out #1 in an upset then that will be a tremendous boost for the team and its fanbase.
It will bring the team momentum and draw a lot of national attention back to UConn as being a bona fide powerhouse team this year.
That's the silver lining built in to this assignment, and UConn will simply need to execute.

Agree-

Why would you have the only two fan bases that travel by the thousands, in the same region?
That's what I'm thinking. Assuming we both made it to the Regional final it would be like the Championship game....but the Committee has done some crazy things before.

I think it's crazy that they would do it but if we are going to win the National Championship I think we'll have to go through UConn one way or the other. TBH I haven't seen anybody fussing about it, which is rare because we like to fuss about everything (except what banners other teams hang ;) ).

You also fuss about which ball is used.

We'll let Dawn decide, we will play with any ball she wants. LOL
Pretty sure the Wilson ball is the official ball of the NCAAW tournament games. It’s one of the reasons we’ve always used it.

Creme has Villanova as 'First 4 Out' in his latest release dated 1-Mar.

Who was the last team to beat UConn and not make the NCAA Tournament the same season?

Exclude 2020, as no tournament was held.

Syracuse in 1995-96 beat UConn 62-59

Question for all fans (UConn and not): Is UConn one of the top seven teams in women's college basketball this year?

If so, is there a reason they should be matched against #1 South Carolina in the same bracket? Maybe, maybe not. But I don't think UConn deserves to be placed in the Bridgeport regional, on the basis of their record. It is an indictment of the women's game that the NCAA has to emphasize attendance in placement of the first/second rounds and regionals.

The marketplace speaks.

In yesterday's Boneyard poll (which is open to all regardless of fan loyalty), UConn was ranked #7.

Out of 19 ballots, 12 had UConn ranked 7th or higher; seven had UConn ranked 8th or lower.

I don't know about a consensus, but I have mixed emotions about it. For the good of the game and SC chance of advancement, I don't like it. From the eye test there is no denying UCONN would have been a 1 seed if Paige was not out most of the season. However, I think SC chances are better at beating UConn in Greensboro than Minneapolis.

I think this UConn team might be ready to play as underdogs by now. I’m pretty sure no one wants them in their bracket, not even SC.

Paige Bueckers in Minnesota is pretty big. If it's up to the networks at all, they will want Uconn there. Making them play SC in Greensboro is a TV plus for the early games but it sacrifices a lot for the final 4.

Didn’t even consider that part so yes, I think I’d rather tackle UConn in Greensboro than in Minnesota. Greensboro will be full of SC fans.

True, but consider UConn has a nasty streak of losing in the semi's. (Hopefully that streak comes to an end.)

Can't really take anything seriously that has Tennessee as a three seed
They were #13 in the committee's last reveal and now Arizona has fallen, so ...

Got a call from my sister-in-law yesterday...she is a LONG TIME UConn fan, but not on BY and doesn't follow stuff so much between games. She said... "Hey do you know UCONN is in same bracket as South Carolina...right out of the gate? "

First I talked her off the ledge... then said... "It means pretty much nothing at this point. UConn has been in Spokane, Bridgeport and now Greensboro regions since the Committee reveals started. Nothing is "in stone" until Selection Sunday (3/13), so relax and see what happens. Either way, our Huskies will battle like no one has seen, with all players healthy and playing their best basketball."

Other teams will "stumble" during Conference Tournaments...and that will all impact the final brackets. UCONN has to "get the job done." and let the pieces fall where they may.

I heard a sigh of relief. and we're waiting for March 13th.

GO HUSKIES
