I don't know about a consensus, but I have mixed emotions about it. For the good of the game and SC chance of advancement, I don't like it. From the eye test there is no denying UCONN would have been a 1 seed if Paige was not out most of the season. However, I think SC chances are better at beating UConn in Greensboro than Minneapolis.

I think this UConn team might be ready to play as underdogs by now. I’m pretty sure no one wants them in their bracket, not even SC.
 
Paige Bueckers in Minnesota is pretty big. If it's up to the networks at all, they will want Uconn there. Making them play SC in Greensboro is a TV plus for the early games but it sacrifices a lot for the final 4.

Didn’t even consider that part so yes, I think I’d rather tackle UConn in Greensboro than in Minnesota. Greensboro will be full of SC fans.

True, but consider UConn has a nasty streak of losing in the semi's. (Hopefully that streak comes to an end.)

They were #13 in the committee's last reveal and now Arizona has fallen, so ...
 
Got a call from my sister-in-law yesterday...she is a LONG TIME UConn fan, but not on BY and doesn't follow stuff so much between games. She said... "Hey do you know UCONN is in same bracket as South Carolina...right out of the gate? "

First I talked her off the ledge... then said... "It means pretty much nothing at this point. UConn has been in Spokane, Bridgeport and now Greensboro regions since the Committee reveals started. Nothing is "in stone" until Selection Sunday (3/13), so relax and see what happens. Either way, our Huskies will battle like no one has seen, with all players healthy and playing their best basketball."

Other teams will "stumble" during Conference Tournaments...and that will all impact the final brackets. UCONN has to "get the job done." and let the pieces fall where they may.

I heard a sigh of relief. and we're waiting for March 13th.

Yeah, Creme talked about this after the last reveal. He had projected Tennessee to drop from a hosting spot, but he also acknowledged that if the committee went strictly by resume strength, TN had a deserving resume based on quality wins. The committee seems to have given them a bit of a pass on their recent slump. The resumes of those teams in the 11-16 range are just not very good and seem to be getting weaker.

seems to me looking at the bracket and the problems with 4 B10 schools and 3 SEC schools in the top 16, we really need to move up to a top 2 of the 2 seeds to get to Bridgeport. This is assuming we win the BE. So we need to be looking for help. LSU needs to lose, preferably before a final against SC. We want Iowa St. to lose, again preferably before a final against Baylor. Michigan losing soon would also help. But if we stay as a 3 or a low 2, I can see where the committee may be stuck sending us out of Bridgeport. I was thinking they were just hating UConn/non power 5, wanting to break our streak of FF's, but they really do have a problem with their rule about not wanting top four seeds from the same conference to meet before the FF. You don't like to root for teams to lose, but I think we have to. Worse yet, if they both win today, tomorrow we have to root for Tenn to take down LSU. I will have to go wash my mouth out with soap for suggesting that. Next thing you know I may be saying we have to root for ND to take someone down. How did it come to this???? Maybe we all just suck it up, let the ladies have a spring break down south as the take down SC, and then root them through to the NC. All's Well That Ends Well.

Louisville went down to Miami, 61 - 59 on a buzzer beater in their Conf tournament... this should be somewhat significant impact on the brackets???? Maybe they hang on as the #4 of the 1 seeds... Interesting

This should serve as a perfect "motivator" (if one is needed) for Geno to the Huskies to Not Take Anyone Lightly... We MUST go out and Take Every Game the rest of the way. Do not sleep on anyone.

I don't think pompous really would be the right choice of word in this situation. What makes him pompous? Unfortunately, UConn literally does not have a single quality win at this point. They beat Tennessee, who at the moment is struggling themselves to stay a top 16 seed, as their best win. If Tennessee drops out early of the SEC tournament, there is a good chance they don't host. And at that point, UConn has 0 wins against top 16 seeded teams.

Yes, I know injuries are a reason for the lack of a quality win, and that everybody is getting back to healthy now. That certainly bodes well for moving forward, but the committee has no quality wins to evaluate even when Paige was playing. Based on what actually happened in games, UConn has a weak resume this year with no signature wins.

However, it seems like Louisville may have helped out with their loss tonight, and LSU seems to be heading the same way. So, luck may be in the cards, but if a 2 seed does happen, it is not based on quality wins bc they don't exist (though I do think they will get some quality wins in the tournament).

Louisville gagging to Destiny Harden and Miami in the quarterfinals.

LSU getting bombed by Kentucky from the arc.

ur kidding, right? if schadenfreude wasn't real, there'd be a lot less sports fans. i root for lots of teams to lose.

AND LSU goes down to Kentucky 78 - 63.

Announcers claim Charlie Creme says LSU won't lose their #2 seed with this loss... HOW on earth can that be... Kentucky is not in the Committee's Top 16 in the last reveal, and they lost by 15 points...not a buzzer beater.

Agree. Pretty sure they will drop MI to a 3. But then it comes down to how it all plays out. Do they just swap UConn and MI and call it a day? And swap Louisville and Baylor (if they show well in their tournament)?

Will be interesting to see how it all plays out! Just not sure any of the losses help change the number of B1G and SEC teams being seeded, which makes it hard to place everybody.

The last domino is the Big 12 tournament and Iowa State. Interesting week ahead.

It’s difficult to imagine a better day for UConn WBB then having 3 teams ahead of the Huskies in the last committee reveal all losing to unranked teams. Add in last Monday’s Iowa St loss at home to Baylor and things have definitely started to turn UConn’s way.

Now it’s time to take care of business at the Mohegan Sun…. :)
 
Saved, now I don't have to root for Tennessee to win today over LSU, I can hate them again. Thank you to LSU for going down.

In convincing fashion as well. I’m wondering when Mulkey will get a technical for spending almost the whole game with her feet in the court. In the play where she went ballistic, she was further on the court than her player was when the alleged foul took place.
 
Both Massey and Net now have UConn fourth, over Louisville. How can the committee ignore that?
