The Official 2026 New York Jets Thread

Reunion?

ya know…it’s not the worst idea. If you get Smith..maybe Dalton or Wentz and a rookie…it might work.

He really had a brutal situation with the Raiders last year. Awful offensive line, bad OC, limited playmakers.

I still would rather take a flyer on a guy like McKee…maybe get Smith and Mckee with a rookie.

Cimini podcast today…he feels that Reich will go with qbs that he knows…which is Brissett and Wentz. i don’t get why the cardinals would release Murray and trade Brissett, but that’s what he thinks. And…of course drafting a QB like Allar.

The tough part with being the Jets is that players don’t really want to come there. So the Jets have to overpay..or hope that relationships close the gap.

i am so glad he isnt going to the patriots. the guy has an amazing motor.

This made me feel even better about the Sauce trade. Crosby is better than Sauce and we got the same haul.

The teams getting multiple firsts win every single one of these trades. As a Pats fan, glad he’s not going to New England. Jets did a great job trading Sauce. Ravens are cooked. That team has lots of holes.

Henry is on the wrong side of age for an RB and Lamar is getting hurt more and more. Crosby could be stuck on a team going in the wrong direction.

I thought it was a dumb trade. Ravens are closer to rebuild than to a Super Bowl for the reasons you mentioned. Defense has a few stars but was terrible last year. They need depth of talent, not big names.

Aw cmon….if he went to the Patriots, you would love the trade. I brought it up because I had heard Crosby was interested in going to the Patriots. Don’t forget, Patriots first round picks are now at least in the late 20s.

The guy is a warrior and very respected. He did amazing things on an awful team. and you have to respect him for being upset he was benched so the team could tank.

Nope. Didn’t want him. He’s not great against the run. I want a bigger true DE rather than a speed guy like Crosby. I don’t believe in trading picks for guys on high $ deals, no matter who they are. Crosby was overpaid when he signed that deal. Bad use of cap space. There are FAs out there who give you 85% of his pass rush ability, are better vs the run and cost half as much in salary and nothing in draft capital.

Did the Patriots trade their center so they could sign Linderbaum?

Listening to podcasts this week…here is the latest on what they are thinking on QB.

Geno Smith is a real option. They love Jacoby Brissett but the Cardinals may not want to trade him unless they get Garrapolo. Mac Jones will be costly..probably a #2….same with McKee. this makes these two unlikely…but maybe the demands will change.

They don’t think that Murray is an option. Carson Wentz has history with Reich and is a strong option as a second option.

Willis is not a real option. there is no buzz around Derek Carr.

So…it appears that Wentz is a stong option as a #2…and Brissett or Geno as the 1. Then draft a QB.

That’s not good…but not awful. Thinking about Smith…at least the guy throws the ball around…as opposed to the crap the Jets had this past year.

I don’t know. I’d have a hard time canceling plans to sit home watching Geno Smith. He was god awful last year and has been let go from two teams in two years now. That’s a hard pass for me.

Different Dolphin

I like the Fitzpatrick move a lot. And it only cost them a 7th rd pick. Surprised some other contender didn't jump on that.

Linderbaum signed with the Raiders today. And Pierce stayed with the Colts.

Not sure why these guys aren't dying to come to the Super Bowl runner up with the MVP runner up QB.....

Willis to Dolphins…I don’t blame the Jets for being gun shy on giving another QB 20mm and hoping it works.

Supposedly…that was the place Geno was interested in because he is from Miami…so more likely that he is a top Jet candidate

Saying he was let go by two teams in 2 years is not really fair. His situation last year was awful…and they have a new headcoach this year with a top draft pick QB. Its not surprising that they moved on.

I think Geno and Wentz with a rookie might be the best they can do. I still would like McKee, but if the Eagles are asking too much for him, I don’t blame them for passing.

It’s easy to say what they shouldn’t do…what I haven’t heard from you is what they should do?

I could live with these guys for a year, then maybe hanging on as a backup:
Carson Wentz - FA
Marcus Mariota - FA
Kirk Cousins - Cut
Jarrett Stidham - Trade
Davis Mills - Trade
Derek Carr - ???

If I had to have these guys for a year, I'd take my medicine but probably wouldn't watch many of the games:
Jimmy G - FA
Kyler Murray - Cut
Geno Smith - Cut
Tanner McKee - Trade
Tyson Bagent - Trade
Will Levis - Trade

I'd like these guys but don't feel like it's worth giving up what it'd take to get them:
Jacoby Brissett - Trade
Mac Jones - Trade

If I had one guy I could 100% write off the Jets wish list, it would be Kyler Murray. Next would probably be Geno Smith, just based off his sporadic play, turnover propensity and the fact he failed miserably with them when he was here and I just don't feel like hearing boos week 1.

that’s a fair list and I would probably move Smith to the top tier and move Cousins down.

One thing I haven’t heard about…if the Vikings get Murray…does that mean they might move on from JJ McCarthy? Not sure how I feel about him…and you wonder about a QB that struggles with the Vikings system…but may be worth kicking the tires.

I am amazed how much interest Murray has gotten. Rich Cimini reported that an ex teammate at AZ told him the Jets should stay away from Murray…he is bad news.

This seems like a Jets move.

Fair to assume this is a troll. The Jets make enough mistakes without people having to make crap up.

I think it is a troll, but it doesn't mean it isn't something a non-Jets fan would think they'd do. That is where the franchise is at the moment.

ok…so day 1 was OK. I have to admit that in general Mougey seems to make logical moves. Not overpaying. And I like that AG is focusing on leadership and intangibles. It felt like in the past it was all about getting younger guys on their first or second contract. Mixing in some respected veterans is a good idea. Glenn needs to stabilize the defense.

But…major questions still on offense. Especially the offensive lline. I would have liked to keep AVT or Simpson….but I get why they didn’t want to give AVT 3 years. They really need to find a guard. I was also hoping they could find a WR2 or WR3…that will now probably end up coming from the draft.

And the qb situation is only slightly clearer. The options are dwindling. The next day or so should be interesting.

So…they have 4 picks in the top 45 or so. You have to think at this point it will probably be Edge, WR, OG and maybe CB?

.-.
Let's not forget, the Jets passed over Pat Mahomes because they thought they had their franchise QB in Christian Hackenberg. I wish that was a joke, but it's the truth. Hackenberg never threw an NFL pass. They took Jamal Adams over him (and also passed on Christian McCaffrey two picks before Adams).

I didn't mind them not resigning AVT. Guy simply can't stay on the field and it's very, very rare that someone who played 7, 5, 15 and 0 games the last 4 seasons all of a sudden becomes dependable the next 3 years. To be honest, I'm puzzled by the Pats moves so far there. They trade their starting center Bradbury, they don't pony up enough for Linderbaum and sign an oft-injured AVT, especially after Campbell was awful in the postseason and the entire line didn't protect Maye.

OK…so the NFL signing period is very odd.

Players that are released by their teams…can’t sign with another team until 4pm Wednesday March 11th. But….if the team announces they have been released…they can sign now.

So…that’s why Tua has signed…and Geno and Kyler have not.

Jets Athletic beat guy feels pretty confident the Jets will sign Geno. He said there is no interest in Cousins. And he doesn’t think the Jets are interested in giving up what they have to give up for the trade options (Brissett, McFee, Jones, etc,)

One thing I forgot to consider…if they sign Geno….it will be for league minumum because the Raiders are paying him. Cousins would cost them more.

Oh please…there were about 20 quarterbacks the Jets have passed on the past 20-30 years that would have made a difference.

I call it the curse of Marino.

The Pats drafted Wilson last year, who was regarded as the top Center in the draft. He fell further than he should have. He was always going to be the starting center this year, glad we got a 5th for Bradbury. With a 2nd year center and LT, AVT slots in nicely at LG, where he hasn't missed any time. Campbell was good before his knee injury and honestly shouldn't have come back.

Jets with a nice move picking up Davis, but they certainly haven't done much for a team with a lot of needs. Tanking for a QB again it seems.

disagree…they signed impact players at all 3 levels and they did so without giving out huge contracts. They still need to work on the offense (OG, WR)…and kicker, but I think they did a good job of helping the defense. Even the Athletic today called out the Jets for doing a good job to improve the defense.
