The team is sooooo flawed. You basically start multiple guys who rarely give you a competitive at-bat. I know batting average is a stat that no one cares about anymore, but I think it does matter when it comes to the postseason. If we're going to accept Grisham as a 230 hitter (which is actually high for him) because he draws walks and hits HRs against terrible pitching, then we have to accept that he won't do those things against good pitching. Which then reemphasizes that he is a bad hitter. Same with Wells, Volpe, Jazz, and the others in this lineup. Same crap every year. Come playoff time, they hope for solo home runs and strike out a gazillion times.
I really wish the Yankees would tear the whole thing down and start over. They've wasted the prime years of one of their all-time greats, and they'll enter the offseason looking to put band-aids on. But they'll still be poor defensively, bad baserunners, and still care more about launch angle and home runs than the fact that they struck out almost 10 times a game in the postseason.
