The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

Judge already got screwed out of an MVP in 2017 because Altuve had the much higher average even though Judge whooped him in everything else.
Both of them should've sent Trout flowers for missing a month. Had Trout played the full season, it was his again.

fwiw, voting wasn't particularly close. Altuve got 27 1st place votes to Judge's 2 (Jose Ramirez got the other one).

That's a different argument. Judge has only 6 seasons with 400 or more at bats. He would've broken the AL home run record again and won another MVP had his seasons not been cut short by injury.

I'm aware of the voting, it was a joke. You seem to think there's a Yankees bias when there's actually a bias against the Yankees with the voters.

I really don't care if Judge wins this year. He's got stats that are certainly deserving. But I do object to the notion that it's not a race. Raleigh is having an astounding year at the plate for a catcher while also managing a rotation few thought would be as good as they are. If anything, it makes me appreciate more what Berra did to win multiple MVPs on a team that had Mantle and others on it.

The Yankees are just 2 games behind the BJs. With a week to go. The Jays are about to play the Red Sox, while the pale hose come to NY.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are crumbling. They are not 1 game in front of the Tribe, having gone 1-9 in last 10 games. The Indians are 9-1. And tomorrow, they both play each other in Cleveland.

Somehow this is turning into one of the best last weeks to a baseball season in some time. So many different plots and stories about many of the teams. The collapse of some teams the Indians/Guardians winning 9 in a row.

Now the just need to get rid of the home plate umpire. Without human error Judge might hit 70 homers and have a On Base % over .500. He and the Yankees really get the short end of doubt by so many umpires. Then you had that joke of a Red Sox fan as umpire calling pretty much everything against the Yankees.

Just saw this stat since 2017 most strikes below the zone Judge 363 next closest player 248. Most third strikes on balls below the zone Judge 42 next closest player 29. Yeah I wonder if the ABS rule is going to help him.

Blue Jays own the tiebreaker due to winning the season head-to- head match up. So it's two games in the standings, but three for NY to win the division. Yankees definitely have the easier schedule, but it's a big hurdle with so few games remaining. While I'd love to avoid the Wildcard, I'm happy to see the Yanks playing solid ball down the stretch. Get into the playoffs and anything can happen.

Now there’s a clubhouse celebration for making the playoffs? George must be spinning in his grave.

I would wager that he is. Especially when you add in how the won last night.

This team is frustrating as hell and I have zero confidence in their postseason prospects. The best thing they have going for them is that no AL team us anything special.

About a week ago I told a buddy that if we came out of the weekend one game back we would have a great shot at winning the division. Friday's loss (because of a couple defensive gaffs) will end up biting us in the backside.

I can see us ending the season tied for first, but a wildcard as Toronto has the tiebreaker. Then we either get bumped on the wildcard round or squeak through but have nothing left for the division series.

I really like Cabellaro and Rosario the kind of guys you need in the postseason. Boone and his analytics doesn't give me much hope but we'll see what happens.

This is how I look at it too. There are no great teams out there. No team will reach one hundred wins this season. The Yankees have the talent to beat anyone they face. That said, they're also flawed enough to lose to any team they face. But, after that miserable month or two where they looked so terrible, they seem to be playing some of their best ball at the right time.

Our vaunted bullpen scares the sh out of me. Even a 10 run lead doesn’t feel entirely safe and that ain’t good when you get to the playoffs.

Nice to see Doval pitching better. Good to have another power arm in the bullpen.

Not sure Stanton's second blast has landed yet.
It's not just Doval:

Doval: 0 ER, 1H, 2BB in last six appearances.
Williams: 0 ER, 4H, 2BB in last eight appearances.
Cruz: 0 ER, 2H, 4BB in last seven appearances.
Bednar: 1 ER, 3H, 2BB in last nine appearances.
Weaver, 0 ER, 2H, 1BB in last five appearances.
Hill, 1 ER, 3H, 0 BB in last five appearances.

The vibes are immaculate entering Tuesday. Let's keep this train rollin'

Boone just had to show his idiocy inserting Mark Leiter who shouldn't even be on this team anymore. He couldn't even pitch an inning.

I get Dominguez is the odd man out due to Grisham, but he should not be losing time to Austin Slater, who was ph for later in the game anyways. Well two positives obviously a win, and the 2 idiot analytical moves didn't work out so this way Cashman doesn't put Leiter or Slater on the postseason roster.

Judge and Stanton go back to back again. Judge is taking all this Cal Raleigh for MVP nonsense personally.

Well WC it is, Yankees didn't wanna win the division bad enough with the non chalant attitude when they threw it away against the Jays head to head.

It's pathetic that the Yankees even allow TB to play in their spring training facility. Hal's cares more about bending over for a division opponent than winning a WS. Well the team is looking good right now will have to win spite of Boone and Cashman.

It’s not pathetic. As you know, Tampa’s stadium was damaged by a natural disaster. Hal was probably being a good citizen and offering the rays a facility to play in while repairs are being made. It’s what good people do - help each other.

That's unfortunate but the Rays owners are too cheap to make the necessary repairs. It's not the Yankees fault that the Trop is a dump. The Rays problems shouldn't be the Yankees problems.

You see how TB repaid the Yankees today by benching their top hitters. Not to say they were beating to begin with and it's the Yankees fault for not putting it in their hands.

Yankees v Red Sox starting Tuesday.

Ben Rice is da shizz.

I doubt those hitters would have made up the 9 run defecit.

I give the Yankees credit…they made a nice run at the end to have a chance to win the division. MInimally they should hopefully have built up some momentum going into the wildcard round.

The issue of course was how they played the Blue Jays during the season.

Looking good, hopefully a sign of things to come and not a tease. I'm kind of just going into it being cautiously optimistic I don't wanna get my hopes up.

I give the players credit the front office and management is another story.
