The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

Judge already got screwed out of an MVP in 2017 because Altuve had the much higher average even though Judge whooped him in everything else.
Both of them should've sent Trout flowers for missing a month. Had Trout played the full season, it was his again.

fwiw, voting wasn't particularly close. Altuve got 27 1st place votes to Judge's 2 (Jose Ramirez got the other one).

That's a different argument. Judge has only 6 seasons with 400 or more at bats. He would've broken the AL home run record again and won another MVP had his seasons not been cut short by injury.

I'm aware of the voting, it was a joke. You seem to think there's a Yankees bias when there's actually a bias against the Yankees with the voters.

I really don't care if Judge wins this year. He's got stats that are certainly deserving. But I do object to the notion that it's not a race. Raleigh is having an astounding year at the plate for a catcher while also managing a rotation few thought would be as good as they are. If anything, it makes me appreciate more what Berra did to win multiple MVPs on a team that had Mantle and others on it.

The Yankees are just 2 games behind the BJs. With a week to go. The Jays are about to play the Red Sox, while the pale hose come to NY.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are crumbling. They are not 1 game in front of the Tribe, having gone 1-9 in last 10 games. The Indians are 9-1. And tomorrow, they both play each other in Cleveland.

Somehow this is turning into one of the best last weeks to a baseball season in some time. So many different plots and stories about many of the teams. The collapse of some teams the Indians/Guardians winning 9 in a row.

Now the just need to get rid of the home plate umpire. Without human error Judge might hit 70 homers and have a On Base % over .500. He and the Yankees really get the short end of doubt by so many umpires. Then you had that joke of a Red Sox fan as umpire calling pretty much everything against the Yankees.

Just saw this stat since 2017 most strikes below the zone Judge 363 next closest player 248. Most third strikes on balls below the zone Judge 42 next closest player 29. Yeah I wonder if the ABS rule is going to help him.

Blue Jays own the tiebreaker due to winning the season head-to- head match up. So it's two games in the standings, but three for NY to win the division. Yankees definitely have the easier schedule, but it's a big hurdle with so few games remaining. While I'd love to avoid the Wildcard, I'm happy to see the Yanks playing solid ball down the stretch. Get into the playoffs and anything can happen.

Now there’s a clubhouse celebration for making the playoffs? George must be spinning in his grave.
