10-2 in the 4th. All the laggards have come alive.
Need to just throw strikes now. Stop the nibbling.

Pre game Quote of the night by the announcers….If the Dodgers are going back to L.A. we’re (Mets) going with them.

Well Alvarez came to life!

Still incredibly difficult to trust anyone from the pen. Hope Manaea can give us 6 or 7 tomorrow.

At this point I’m playing Winker over JD regardless of lefty or righty I think. Maybe Alvy will get it rolling after having a positive night. Taylor’s the man that is due for a big hit now …

If Manaea pitches like he has the last few months I like our chances tomorrow night. Especially since we're probably going to get to face their worst relievers.

Yep. sucks. Knew it was over when they rolled out Senga down 3 in the 8th. Any chance of a miracle comeback ballooned to 6 runs. Good season. Never expected this run.

Man, I really need to savor this one. I'll never forget talking about a "dynasty" in 1986, then having Scioscia and Hershiser break my heart. And all these years later, you just don't get many opportunities to feel like we felt the last month.

And you have Pete, Manaea, JD Martinez, Winker and I believe Quintana all question marks.

This one sure did sting.

Walks and strands. That team was not nibbling, they were patient and it led to soooo many walks. That led to excess base runners and disaster. And the RISP failure by us especially with < 2 cost us.
The ‘86 team’s run happened in my senior year at UConn. I too, thought many more were coming. Conversely, never, ever, thought the Huskies men would win a natty, let alone 6.
And That is why you have to win it when you get this close.

Look at the bright side - can't blame this on your stars being on drugs and alcohol like '88.

Nice season. Was supposed to be a rebuild year waiting for Scherzer and Ver Landers money to come off the books.

Of all the pending free agents, I hope Alonso and Manaea are re-signed. Winker would be nice, but he may want a bigger role than the Mets can offer. Let Severino, Martinez, Quintana walk. I'd bring back Stanek and Maton in the bullpen

How much for Acuna or Gilbert? We have a ton of SP (not Skenes or Jones though).

Acuna will be the starting 2B opening day and Gilbert will be the CF by July, so sorry not available

You thinking Vientos 1b, Acuna 2b, Lindor SS, and Mauricio 3b?

In a perfect world Alonso is at 1B again next year, and then some combination of Mauricio, Vientos, Alonso is at DH most days. But I'm not sure how likely that is

I think whether Alonso comes back or not depends on what happens with Juan Soto. Cohen clearly has had him on his radar.

Q and Manaea yes. No Severino. And Alonso has peaked and it’s all downhill from here. But Cohen is an emotional owner, and will pander and throw gobs of money and years at Petey and we’ll have another Bonilla on our hands. Look at JD, that is what Alonso will be shortly. Agree on Stanek and Maton.

Nah, Alonso is the face of the franchise. I'm not saying you write him a blank check, but offer him 6/$140M and get him back in the middle of the lineup with Juan Soto

He turned down 150 million.
